Thoughts on New Emojis?

For iOS devices, 8.3 came out with new, well kind of new emojis. They basically changed every skin tone to yellow

(New layout also!)


I don't really like it, the yellow should have stayed only on the faces not the humans >m<

Kinda ruined it for me.​

I just updated my emoji app like 10 minutes ago and was wondering why I couldn't see the new emojis. Then I remembered, I'm still running iOS 7 and they're only for iOS 8.

Those emojis are not nice enough to make me want to download the **** that is iOS 8.

I was under the impression that you'd be able to select the skin tone you wanted your emojis to be, so I'm kind of confused now.

To be honest, I think all emojis look creepy so I don't use them. Anyway, I think giving emojis an unnatural skin tone as a default is logical. I'll admit the hair being the same colour is a little strange looking but I'm sure it'll be easy for users to get used to. Personally I'd have made the hair colour a slightly darker shade of yellow just to make the images clearer.

I only use the basic emotion faces though, so I won't really worry about the new skin colors.

Why the hell is yellow the standard color? Couldn't they at least make them something pleasant to the eye that wouldn't offend anyone, let's say purple?

If the default wasn't yellow it would've caused controversy because of white superiority or racism depending wGAT the default is.

ya but if the default was still white then people would complain about "WHY IS WHITE THE DEFAULT ARE YOU SAYING WHITE IS SUPERIOR"

yeah i agree. The motive behind this is all probably about race, really.

They were already yellow on Android for ages, so not really that big of a change. More consistent than anything.
