I sometimes dislike my map, especially the river placement, and the locations of the town plaza/retail/town hall. I wont be keeping a lot of the villager houses in this photo, so im not really talking about those, but im considering transferring my items/villagers over to a new game and restarting. (i have a different 3ds and friend code) but im not sure. What do you guys think of it? Thanks :)

Wow! I've never seen a river that's so contained like that. I like having a river that runs through town, but your river creates some nice, natural spots for things like an isolated campground or other special spot. And having all that open space on the right would give you a lot of room to plan PWPs. One thing that I really like about your map is that Re-Tail is so close to the dock--perfect for beetle runs! I'd probably keep this layout.

It depends on how far along you are in developing your town. If it's just in the beginning, then by all means go ahead and restart.

I personally think it's a pretty decent map. It's not something I would look for in a map, but if you feel like you can make it work, then I'd say definitely keep it. A friend of mine told me that any map can work, it's what you put on it that makes it good.

Personally I think it?s a good map with lots of open space, a long beach and a south facing river. But if you?re unhappy with your town, go ahead and reset.

I love how the river snakes! You could have a little forest next to your house, however I'd have put the cafe in the contained space underneath where the forest would be, but that's just personal preference :) very nice!

I just reset, and it was the best choice I made in a long time. I really love the snaking river, it would be adorable for cute little spaces. You could have a tiny little forest right by your house, and that would be awesome with a path leading up to it. You could potentially put all the villagers on the other side of that river too. Plus you have that awesome long beach right by you. That beach is HUGE. I agree- I love that Re-Tail is right by the dock. That makes it great for island runs :3
If you are debating a reset-DO IT.

Oh heavens, I had almost that exact same river before I reset, except at the bottom part it instead just kept stretching all the way to the right beach. I think it's pretty good that you've got a pretty much single shore, though the "swimming access only" mini-shores tend to bug me personally. :S I think with the building locations you got it pretty good for that map, too.

Speaking from my own experience, though, despite having good building placements, the river bothered me a lot. The thin lands in the top-left corner and on the side left of the river that forms that little "pocket" of land really got me annoyed for whenever a villager plot would appear and I'd have to crawl down those areas to make sure they didn't kinda "cut off" my path. That's just me, though; I don't know how you feel about the areas.

Otherwise, I think it's a decent map, but if you're bothered by it you ought to just reset.

Thanks! i think i might just reset- i will definitely need to transfer over my four dream villagers i have and all my good items. its annoying though to have to create friendships again and also to unlock all the shops and PWPs :/ but i hate the river

I also just reset my game and I am happy I did! I got to get my dreamies in a little quicker and I love my new town layout! Now I just want the island so I am not so poor! Haha
