Literally none of the non-Nintendo collaboration items were released in the US. I'm kinda upset by this. I mean, I can still get them from trades, but not from natural causes. Also, the things they collab with were really random.

The collaborations were handled really poorly imo. I'm okay with regional locked items to an extent, but when they're limited and poorly executed it seems like they are manipulating their audience to BUY BUY BUY now. Which is kind of scummy when involving child audiences..
It's not as if they have the excuse of being indie or low demand. My issues are more with the cards though, and not the Japan exclusives that were RV drops.

It promoted hackers tbh, which really kills the trading aspect of the game. And not just in game hackers, but full on knock off makers for the cards that still cost 100$. So much money that could have all went to Nintendo if they handled it better.

As for who they collaborated with, I don't mind it. None of them appealed to me at all, except for Capcom (Monster Hunter), which was released for all. Considering the audience is geared towards children, and the actual players are mostly female, I think Sanrio made sense. Filly has amazing items, but none that I actually display.... And Holden's set is super ugly I'ma just say it. His entire set freaks me out.

I feel that no ACNL item should be limited. It just promotes hacking. I think that after the event, they should've just made the items downloadable as DLC from the Eshop or something.

While I do agree with some of these opinions that are said in above posts, there's one simple thing I want people be aware of here. Simply, it isn't possible for Nintendo to distribute specific collab items outside Japan, simply due to a matter of contract with those companies outside Nintendo.

I'm not a fan of region exclusives in any game. Exclusives in general really rub me the wrong way, I don't like it when people get special treatment simply because they live in another region or picked up a game before someone else.

The only "exclusives" I approve of are DLCs as long as they're worth the price and not just an obvious cash grab.

I don't mind regionally exclusive items, as long as you are able to trade them. I think it encourages fans around the world to interact with each other, which is really neat. But it is kind of hard to do that if you don't have a message board like TBT or something.

Yeah, but they've been handling those contract and distribution really poorly, if they are gonna do that they should secure so they can at least release it JP/EU/NA, or major regions in general. Sure, I was lucky to get them all thanks to you and other awesome people here when they do this for any game it irks me a lot. Sure $$$ and encouraging the trade aspect but how they have been handling it with Pok?mon and NL is really, really bad. Also sure, some holiday are country exclusive but doesn't mean they have to make it like that in game either to be honest...
