thoughts on forced perspective?

It's cute but too modern for me...my island has no theme but I'm a big no-no to modern-ish design.

It looks nice in photos but I have a feeling I'd find it awkward if it was on a beach on my Island.

I really loved that video
Definitely going to try to this out on the back half of my island

I don't think I would ever do it myself, but I love seeing it on other islands! I can't wait for them to release some sort of Dream Suite function so I can see all the different towns that use it.

Sorry, but I think the illusion is too easily broken. After spending so much time in the game most players are too aware of the sense of scale for distant objects to really buy it. Plus these kinds of perspective tricks have a way of breaking when the camera isn't in the right spot, which is going to happen every time you go past the area and don't stop to gaze out.

I placed the Zen Fences and Bamboo around the edge of the viewing area to prevent people from seeing the edges of the "distant" area. Properly framing the view helps preserve the illusion.

Maybe the HHA trophies as additional houses?
I thought about that, but the base is bulky and super obvious.

Maybe a Server as a high rise hotel/apartment? I need to test it out when I get home from work.

Someone I know has used the rightmost part of rocks at the back of the island to make the rocket seem huge! Of course the illusion fades as soon as you get close, but it's still pretty cool to see from afar if you manage to imagine it as far away.

this is such a cool and creative idea! I really like it! :)

for houses, I think I saw one post that used the bee keepers hive thing or bird houses turned around

Random things I have learned: without atmosphere or known reference points you actually can't tell how far away something is, so when the astronauts were on the moon, they had no idea if a rock was 20 feet away and small or 200 feet away and huge. And since they had a limited supply of oxygen, they had to know when it was time to turn back so it mattered.

CARRY ON THIS ACTUALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANIMAL CROSSING LOL

I put my Statue of Liberty on one of the rocks and it looks pretty good. I don’t really have a good place to do the full perspective thing, but I did put a tourist telescope on my second tier cliff just above it.
