So... I never had to stop and think about it because I had the luck to have been able to explore androgyny in my art for several years in university and no one as much as batted an eye... but do you think there might be people actually offended by characters crossdressing in such a video game as Animal Crossing? I mean... it stands to reason that they shouldn't given the game gives players the ability to wear whatever clothes they like regardless of gender and I might just be a worrywart but eh...

In Rococore the mayor is a dude in rich curls, a tiara and dress and his helper is a lady that is wholy ambiguous of gender altogether (if only the game would allow the use of neutral pronouns that is).

So... characters not wearing gender-asigned clothes. What's your thoughts on them?

They can do what they want. It's no one else's business to worry abut them... they're not the one in the clothes after all. I don't see why someone can rightfully be offended by something like that if it isn't inappropriate/ sexually 'revealing'. I will never take anyone who is 'offended' by someone wearing clothes assigned the opposite gender seriously, sorry not sorry lol. It sounds like either a joke to me, or concerning, because anyone who could be offended by such a thing must be so shielded and corrupted by the corporate world (considering IRL clothes are really assigned genders for marketing/departmental purposes) that the concept of someone rebelling against the clothing market is like... some sinful or awful, unheard of thing to do, when it's not???? cray cray.

oh and anyone who gets offended by a character wearing clothes that 'werent made for them' but DOESN'T get offended when women are constantly being portrayed in skimpy/erotic/p*rno cosplay outfits and men constantly being portrayed in barbaric heroic body-builder outfits can sit right down

Different from casually giving a compliment on someones outfit, if someone is """offended""" by someones clothes and they dont have anything nice to say they shouldnt say anything at all. People should have learned that by the time they were like, 6.

I know a couple of friends of mine wear dresses in the game but aren't really transvestite in real life. I guess they does it as a joke or something, I dunno. Never really asked why.

I don't know, you do you I suppose. People should have the freedom to wear whatever makes them feel the most comfortable, I guess.

This, pretty much. I've never ever had to think of this IRL (personally) and I'm generally irked by people that want to gender everything. I have friends that are actually genderfluid (well, just one, really) and although I cannot put themselves in their shoes due to being perfectly cisgendered myself, I never had any problem understanding their right to wear a skirt on one day and pants the next...

Also agreed on the double standards set by all sorts of people. Glad to hear like-minded opinions...

It's actually pretty funny because my 'myself' so to speak Mayor in Mayvale is a pretty feminine girl, but I like exploring different themes and ideas with characters in my writing (and the imagined worlds of video games as an extension as well).

i personally don't do it, but literally what other characters wear is none of my business. People can wear whatever they want, it literally doesnt matter.

It's up to the player to do whatever they want. I've done it in my game because I dress quite androgynously in real life as well, so I made my mayor reflect that. You'll always get the immature few who will make annoying comments (i know a few friends who have been harassed by 12 year olds on club tortimer because their female characters had male haircuts and vice versa like wtf). But in the end if that's the way you express yourself and have fun in the game, whether it be cross dressing or not, you should do it B-)

It doesn't matter. Personally as a girl I love the fact that I'm able to wear pants or shorts in this game

Before I changed the designs in the Able Sisters shop, Monty wore the orange lace clothing design.
I didn't mind really. Monty was just the black sheep of Pinwheel. Well, Muffy too if literally.

I have no problem with it. It's not my body/character and it's not hurting anyone so why should it be an issue? Heck I do it myself sometimes.
