I just noticed the Thonky guide is missing a lot of info, I have been following their hybrid guide for a while now and noticed that they are missing some combinations that I accidentally found, I then researched about the combinations and found out about their existence from untrusted sources like other players. So yeah just a heads up for those following the hybrid guide! because a lot of people are.

thanks, I'll definitely look into this guide

that guide is correct however why doesn't it tell you the special off springs? like it said you can make a purple pansy with 2 orange pansies but it doesnt mention that the 2 orange pansies have to be offsprings of a blue and orange couple??? I guess all the guides are missing stuff..

DUDE! Make your own! :D Grab the accurate data from both sources, (cite them, of course) and add your own and put it up! With pictures, and suggested lay-outs! Pretty please? I desperately want an honest, accurate guide!

I know from searching guides for my guide list that good ACNL guides are kind of hard to come by. A lot of ACNL mechanics are hidden (like hybrids, perfect towns, tree growth, villager friendship) and most people are not interested enough to do thorough testing to see exactly how stuff works in the game (unlike Pokemon for example where some people dissect every little mechanic, calculation, and round-off to figure out exactly how the game works). I did a bridge guide (in my signature) and it was a real pain in the neck to figure out exactly how all the bridges work. I found out that a lot of bridge guides were sloppy and inaccurate since I guess people go off of speculation and stories instead of actual testing. There are a lot of things about ACNL which I'd like to know exactly how they work mathematically, but I don't have the time or will to test all of that stuff, so I'll just settle for guides which are mostly right even though I know almost none of them are perfect.

Yeah I should!! Thanks for asking me, I never really thought of doing one!

very true!, I'm surprised no one has done actually mathematical testings and calculations like they do with IVs and stuff for Pokemon, and this game is popular af and old lol

Well dang. Here I was trying to get purple pansies off of two normal orange pansies, completely unaware of the fact that the orange ones had to be offspring of orange and blue. Never even knew. Thanks for the heads up, I probably would have gone on my entire play through without getting a single violet pansy otherwise lol

I've used thonky and bidoof's hybrid guides in an effort to get purple pansies with no luck. Are they just super rare? I really want to get them on my own rather than getting them from someone else.

This might be a lil unrelated but how do you breed blue pansies??
You should make a guide, I definitely agree. Thonkys was really unsuccessful for me lol

The guides didn't help me, but I somehow found some truth in the lies. When searching how to obtain golden flowers, it had said water it with a gold can. So I searched up how to get a gold can and I did, skipping forward 15 days. After I got it, I bred myself some black roses. Again, some days were TTed. I was so excited to plant them, but I read more guides and it said you need the flowers to wilt. Definitely not a trustworthy guide and a waste of my time, as I have the beautiful town ordinance up and I have no reason to take it down. You should make your own guide if it isn't working for you.

You should make a guide if you want to :)

And I'd guess the reason people don't really dissect Animal Crossing New Leaf is a few reasons:
It seems like a lot of younger people play it.
It's more of a laid back game and people who play it aren't necessarily worried about knowing every tiny little mechanic to the game.

Obviously that's not true for everyone.
I'm sure there might be people out there that have or are working on dissecting it but maybe either don't share their findings or they are just not very popular so they aren't known.

I see you guys are struggling with pansies, because the guides are missing a lot of info on offsprings, well dont worry guys! I'm making a guide now! stay tuned!

I literally just got 3 hybrid orange pansies today by doing my own way out of just two flowers! so I definitely am going to do a guide! stay tuned people!

I volunteer to help you test stuff... Just tell me what to plant and in what patterns, and I'll report back!

Sure! I'll message you once I finish my planning

Yeah I agree! I'm one of those people who like to dissect a game lol

Yeah, I've found thonky to be very Un-reliable and would recommend that you find other sites to get information

Tell me more about your findings on bridges like, is it true one of the bridges do not count towards to total of PWPs?

I'm willing to help out. I'm on a quest to breed all the hybrids anyway, and I have access to fertilizer. I do not have a golden watering can, however.

Hmm, let me check to see if my secondary character can get one, and then I'd be happy to trade it to you... For the insane price of... 100 bells!!!! Muwhahaha. :)
EDIT: Yes, I now have a spare gold watering can you're welcome to. Just let me know.

Much appreciated! Let me know when you would like to make the trade. If we keep in touch, I'd also be willing to give it back once it's no longer needed for hybrid testing.

I went with Liquefy Guide under FAQS.
It took awhile to get all blue rose and purple pansy but I now have a town full of all the hybrids.

I agree 100% DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT follow that guide!! I spent all of my second year growing hybrids, all successfully, and the Japanese guide from Nintendo Dream was correct, there are hybrid red roses and pansies, but the way they have you grow them was FAR more complex than Thonky, and was 100% successful!! It takes about 3 weeks or so per blue rose, and purple pansy, but it DOES work following them!!
