I let them grow 1 layer out then cut those down like a fence to keep my bamboo from spreading. Hope that helps

i broke my axe doing so.

my bamboo is near a cliff so it doesnt spread at all in one direction
and i planted a bunch of flowers around it to stop it from going further the other direction
