Villagers plot here

DZzYCjqVoAAcnK9.jpg

This is WAY too close to my plaza. *sighs*
I refuse to let it bug me though. See, I'm learning to not take this game seriously..... (although making a thread about how I'm not letting it bug is probably showing that I'm letting it bug me)

aw i'm sorry!!! chrissy moved into a place i wish she hadn't but i am trying very hard to be cool about it. i just have to do some rearranging, and it will be okay!!!!

I'm sorry. They always seem to plot where you don't want them even when they have plenty of other places where they can live.

It's obviously up to you to determine whether it's worth it, but villagers cannot move on top of paths (unless there is no area uncovered for them to move over). So one common tactic to control where villagers live is to cover your town in paths and leave 3x3 gaps of uncovered paths for new villagers to move into.

Of course, you can also play as you are now, more naturally, and just let them choose where they'll live :) They do love choosing the most annoying places, though XD

You could still make that work!
Try and landscape around it. ^_^

this is one of the reasons why I wish they brought back those house signs from previous titles that would already have a place for a villager to move. As mayor you could place them around town where you wish each sign to be and they move on top of it, no problem. There would be no landscaping or plot resetting issues like that. I myself have experienced plenty of stuff like this and I couldn't hate it more imo.

I try to take this game not seriously anymore either, but plot resetting is the one thing I refuse to give up lol.

oh so you're villager can post their house up that close to the plaza but freaking isabelle won't let me put a street light near it???? *rolls eyes* this game is evil

Frita lives very close to my plaza and I believe I made it work! Most likely... :D
If you cover the whole plaza with paths, you can make it go down and right in front of the house, like a street. If someone plots on the right side or you place a PWP there, the street can continue~

I remember this one spare town I used to have, I decided to not plot reset in it.
All the villagers who were moving in sat in really terrible areas! One sat really close to the ramp that goes down to the beach and another sat in front of MY HOUSE! (like why is that even a thing!!!?!)

I think I'm the only person who actually likes having their villagers move close to the plaza. Why couldn't Leonardo have done that instead of moving in front of Re-Tail?

I've always wondered why they decided to remove those. They would have been so useful in this game.

Is it at least a villager you don't mind having? It can really make all the difference...

Coach moved right in front of one of my bridges and it drove me crazy every time I saw him out and about. His smug expression made me feel like he knew exactly what he had done and that he was proud of himself... Grrr...

Then Lolly planted herself in front of my other bridge but she was so sweet and cute that it seemed totally accidental... :P

It's Rocco. I don't like Rocco

Wow, this thread got a lot of replies. Um blue?

But the cool thing though that I keep reminding myself so I can't get that irritated: Villagers houses aren't permanent so they can plot anywhere and they won't be there forever.
Also, I'm not landscaping right now, so that's probably another reason I'm not that stressed.

I decided to play this game totally natural and if that means villagers plot right on top of the plaza, then I'll deal with it because they will move eventually. Unless you're Cranston from Ossipri.

Yes, if it's a villager you don't want to keep definitely don't stress it! He will be gone in no time! Sooner rather than later if you're lucky :3

I went through and put patterns and paths everywhere in hopes of controlling where I wanted epona to put her house, I?ve had enough luck with it in my other town but for some reason she was allowed to plop her house down in the middle of my paths :( I was almost certain they couldn?t plot on paths or patterns on the ground in the welcome amiibo unpdate but I guess not ;-;

Oh my god, WHAT? That signpost thing sounds sooo insanely useful. I have to think of ways to strategically place every tile and PWP so there's no 3x3 empty plot, it's quite the pain lol

I went through and put patterns and paths everywhere in hopes of controlling where I wanted epona to put her house, I’ve had enough luck with it in my other town but for some reason she was allowed to plop her house down in the middle of my paths :( I was almost certain they couldn’t plot on paths or patterns on the ground in the welcome amiibo unpdate but I guess not ;-;

They will only do this if there's no other place for them to move. So you must not have had an empty plot section, and if you did, perhaps it was to close to a rock, river, PWP, house, etc etc.

I've covered my ENTIRE town in a basic path when I reset my town. So far I've had 7 villagers move in , and each one landed in the 3x3 plot I had empty for it. Nothing can be placed around that 3x3 plot, meaning another house, PWP, etc. If two houses are side-by-side, there must be two spaces between the 3x3 plots.

PS. And remember that each house has an empty square in the front of the door (commonly labeled "D" for door), as such:

HHH
HHH
HHH
. D .

You must have at least one empty space in front of the door, as well. So if you are building houses in a vertical row, there must be 3 empty spaces between the 3x3 plots.

If you're trying to build an organized, pathed town, yeah, this is pretty much step 1. Figure out where you want your villagers and build around that and the main areas of town.

ALSO, big point that's easy to miss for a lot of players, remember that your Police Station, Campsite and Cafe can NOT be demolished and rebuilt. Imo, unless you have a spot you absolutely love for them, place those last after you've figured out your villager and PWP placement. Camp placement is your first priority of those, imo, as that's how you most commonly get your 10th villager. In my first town, I ended up really regretting the location of my Police Station and wish I had waited after I developed my town more.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I think you can still make it work by planting trees and bushes around to give the plaza tree separation of space from the villager's house.

Part of the challenge with the game is working with its limitations and still make them look good. Good luck! :)

Aw I'm sorry to see this happen to you(especially since you seemed to have had a Cranston curse.) :(

Hmm I guess you could either try and learn to live with whoever is there until they leave or attempt to plan a way to landscape around it. :o

I once had this villager(Lolly)live near my Retail and then I started to like her location, so maybe it might be the same with you soon.
