Phoebe the Uchi Phoenix got her plot today, which would normally be good, but she moved where I want my bridge. More specifically, she is 2 spaces below and 4 spaces right of where I want my bridge. Isabelle, that conniving dog decided that, even though I am her boss, that we cannot place, in fact, the suspension bridge there. If I place it further to the left, it looks really weird and doesn't line up right with my campsite. So basically, I'm just here with a villager I spent 7 million bells on and she is just barely "obstructing" me from making my bridge. Thanks for listening to this depressing story of sadness. Like this if you cri everitiem.

I planted a native perfect fruit in my town at the early start of my game, and a villager decided to move in right next to it and kill the tree....

I always wondered why Isabelle won't let you build bridges next to houses. She says it "might cause problems", but villagers that move next to bridges have no problems with getting out of their houses and such...

Maybe the bridges a land bridges and their job is to obstruct villagers for no reason.

The game is so unfair sometimes. Wait, not sometimes. A LOT!

Yeaa I had similar experience. In my old town I had to kick Biskit out so I could replace my bridge.. I felt so bad for him D:

Why does the game let villagers plot their house near the existing bridge if they won't even let you replace it in the exact same spot with a new bridge??? @_@

Exactly! How does it even make sense? I'd like Isabelle fired and a new assistant hired, please.

I've had my share of bridge placement woes. I now have all three set up and I decided that I would rather have the zen instead of the brick. It would look better with the theme, but I don't dare mess with them. Isabelle would never let me put them back in the same spot.

I haven't really had a bad experience with a bridge yet, but, there was a time where I was trying to place a Park Clock next to a bench. When it would let me place it down, it didn't look right, and when it didn't it was right where I wanted it...
Isabelle was saying that it was too close to the bench. Why do we need that much space for a slender Park Clock??

You have a bridge, a villager moves in, you demolish the bridge to redo it, but suddenly it's "too close" to someone's house? Why wasn't it too close before? I like my cobblestone bridges, but I think about changing them sometimes... I know better than to mess with things, though.

I made the mistake of deciding to change the bridges in both towns and both are now down to 2 each =/
Hobbiton's is really annoying, it can't go back where it was because of one of my characters houses, but if I move it out of the way of that she tells me Zucker's house is in the way. It's 4 flippin' spaces away and to the side of his house!

I've been moving PWPs in my town and I put a fence where my old lighthouse was. But where I wanted to put it was "too close to a rock"

HOW IS THAT REALLY AN ISSUE?!

I hope in the next game they give us more tools so we don't have to plot reset and other tricks.

I had a bridge... I built the wind turbine near the bridge.. I then decided to remodel the bridge so deleted it... but Isabelle wouldn't let me replace the bridge as it was too close to the turbine... so i had to demolish the turbine to rebuild my bridge to rebuild my turbine.

Awesome... lol

I wish we could pick plots, or at least allocate space for villagers to move in to.I wish we had a kind of grid system for our PWP so we could plan better... etc etc

Oh well onwards and upwards :D

Bridges have a bigger "empty zone" around them then houses do.

Have any of you ever played Zoo Tycoon or Roller Coaster Tycoon? It works on a grid so you can easily place buildings and things in the perfect spot and never have to worry about space limitations or crap like that. I think the placement of public works projects in this game should be more like that, not following around some short bimbo dog to blindly place it somewhere where you can't even see how it's an issue.

Or just, let us designate the spots where villagers can move in. Since you are the mayor and all.

Aw, I can feel your pain. :(
A similar thing happened to me.
I was aiming to convert all my cobblestone bridges to fairy tale ones. Problems arose when I had demolished the cobblestone bridge which Pierce lived next to.
Because of the 'unique' house placement of my town, not only could I not put the bridge back where it had been, but I couldn't place one on the entire left side of my town because either Pekoe's, Pierce's, or Broffina's house was in the way. It was going to be super inconvenient for getting around.
Fortunately, I have a very close friend who adores Pierce and was willing to adopt him so I could restore balance to my town.
I ended up getting Kid Cat as a replacement jock, only to have him move directly in front of a different bridge.
(I couldn't plot reset, as I had done work on all four characters houses and didn't feel like losing out.)
It doesn't look fantastic, but at least I can still use the bridges now (and they all match).

Bridge placement makes zero sense in this game. I'd love to replace my original bridge for a different one, but I know there's no way Isabelle is going to let me place it there. And it's the most important bridge in my town, too, so I'm just going to leave it like this.

In your case though, I would definitely have plot reset. But I know not everyone is into that/knows about it.
