Thinking of TTing so I can find my missing rock; any warnings?

TL;DR: I'm no TTer but I'm thinking of trying it for rocks. Something like, break all ma rocks, jump back 6 days, then 6 days forward again (back to present time) so I can get my missing 6th rock. Would this work? Anything I should be aware of before I do it?

Yeah so I've been trying to get my rocks in a specific layout for the past 2 weeks and I got to 5/6 in the correct spots about 3 days ago. The problem is... the 6th one hasn't shown up since then! I scoured my island high and low and nothing turned up. Figured I'd wait a day or two, which I did, and still nothing. So I googled it and turns out other people have had the same problem like in this thread - one of the comments suggested breaking them all then TTing. I know you get weeds for time travelling and maybe cockroaches (only after a month of not playing I think?), but is there anything else I should know? I do have an empty plot right now that I will likely fill with an amiibo today - I should probably do this TTing stuff after they move in or else exterior house glitch might happen, right?? Idk. Tell me if you got any info! It'd be greatly appreciated. it'll also be useful for if/when I decide to TT to get Raymond via campsite method cuz I'm a little sick of waiting for him to come on his own 😿

Definitely wait until your villager moves in just in case but otherwise there's not really any other risks besides your villagers yelling at you for abandoning them lol~

Are you sure it's not hidden behind a house, tree or cliff? My rocks kept spawning in unexpected locations until I literally pathed down my whole island, I suppose you could try to TT for the rock though

There's pretty much no demerits to TT besides cockroaches like you mentioned and sometimes I found my villagers "didn't remember me" but once you TT back to regular time, friendship is back to normal

Definitely move in your villager first because you don't want that to mess up. If you TT day by day it should still be fine, but yeah check around cliffs and other hidden areas. Placing rocks are difficult unless you've pathed your entire island (which totally sucks but what I did), or putting stuff everywhere. You might have just missed a blinds pot behind a house or some trees.

Awww I am actually dreading that a little 😭 One of the reasons I didn't wanna TT was cuz I didn't want them to think I'd left them for days haha. Good to know though, thanks :D

I'll check again to make sure, since I have 2 days to kill before I can TT anyways because of my empty plot. But omg, your villagers say they don't remember you??? I feel like that would break my heart lol. Maybe I'll just avoid talking to them altogether, I remember someone saying they would just not speak to their villagers at all when they were TTing (except the one they were trying to kick out or whatever)

I don't have any advice but if you find out what's happening, let me know. I am missing 2 rocks.

You too?? That sucks. You could give this method a shot maybe? I'll keep you posted on if I'm successful with it.

The exterior glitch won't happen if you only move forwards one day at a time until the villager is all moved in. It is triggered when you a skip a day during the move-in process or if you time-travel backwards.

Other than that I can't really think of any glaring problems you might run into. I wish you the best of luck finding that last rock! :)

Being gone for periods of time doesn't affect your friendship level at all. Your villagers will say one line when you first talk to them and that is all.

Is your rock formations near any cliffs? Specifically a south facing one? This can cause rocks to not spawn.

Moving forward 6 days will count as you being gone for every day you missed, moving back 6 days will count as one day but going back to today will make today count as a new day. This means if your "days on the island" is at 52 days, it'll be at 53 days once you go back to today.

After 6 days a new villager will definitely have chosen the empty spot, but iirc you can replace them with an amiibo as long as they're out of boxes.

Yeah mannn I pathed my whole island, placed some mannequins, random furniture, the works... so sick of my island being an eyesore, just want to be over with these rocks already lol. I'll check behind trees and houses again before I try the TTing, thank you!

Oh yeah, it'd probably be a problem if I did it now because I specifically would have to TT backwards. x_x Thanks for the info and the support :D

The rocks are all on top of a mountain i.e. 3rd level ground. Here's a pic of what I mean: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EX7w9gtUMAAzL2B?format=jpg&name=large

Hmm ok, let me see if I'm understanding this correctly - if for example my "days on the island" is at 52 days, would me going back 6 days (=1 day elapsed) then forward six back to present day (=1 day elapsed) then have my total "days on the island" as 54 days when I go back to today?

Hmm that is odd, and you're sure it isn't spawning anywhere else?

Do you have an glowing spot that still spawn?

Funny that you ask, I actually don't have a daily glowing spot spawning anymore :/ I figured it was cuz I pathed/placed furniture around my whole island so much that there was no room for a tree to spawn. Is there anything you know about this that I should know?

And yeah, I looked behind my trees for a bit just a few hours ago, nothing turned up unfortunately ☹

I ask because the glowing spot has stricter requirements for spawning than the rocks.

The only other solution I can think of if nether is spawn is to make the area around the rock bigger. Which would involve making the top of the mountain wider if possible. I'm sure the cliff being so close to it is the reason it is not spawning.

I see. So it means I've done it right since they aren't spawning anymore!

Well, what I've done is this: here's what it looked like before and now I've added some land on the second tier (pic here) (and here). I could add some land on the third tier in that exact spot I guess?

Yeah, I would add land where the lantern and bamboo tree are. Since the rock isn't spawning, I think the cliff is the reason. It will mess up your decorations a bit, but you can redo it after.

If that doesn't work, then I don't know what else is causing it.

I'll try it out! Thanks for sounding off ideas with me :) oh yeah it's not a problem, the decorations are a random mess anyways cuz of this whole rock spawn business lol. Fingers crossed it'll spawn tomorrow!

Update! @Bioness your suggestion worked :D it spawned today!!

I meant to comment this in the morning but I was so excited that I could finally clean up my island and ended up playing all day non stop. Thanks for your help, a million times over!

So turns out, adding land around the planned rock spot allowed it to spawn. If your rocks are in any way placed similarly to mine, it'd be worth a shot!
