Things you don't like about New Leaf

I agree with all of you--the watered-down personalities and dialogue are a huge disappointment. Especially Blathers... :( the very fact that Resetti was reduced to optional status still irks me to no end.

the wifi is bad, cant go on club tortimer with friends (i meanu obviously can but cant go worldwide with them or whatever) and snooties and crankies were a lot better in the other games

The personalities and dialogues are really the only thing that I dislike about New Leaf. I dislike how I had Flo, got used to the way she talked, then had Tammy move in who then spoke the same way (they're both uchi villagers). I wish there was some more variety and something to make them more distinguishable.

Personalities and dialogues having no personality. I guess they wanna appeal more to "kids" but honestly how many kids that young play it..? Like stop talking about your make-up or tablecloth poetry arrrgh. Like it's so harmless you don't even care anymore.

Also the band rng with moving in and out.. please stop.

The bad bank decision they made with the amiibo cards. Was it really necessary to create that kind of second hand market.... sigh.

That left out so many old/e+ villagers from cards and in general.

It bothers me that no matter where you are in main street, villagers talk about shopping often the first time you talk to them. For example, I was in Club LOL last night and the first thing Marty said had something to do with shopping, depite being in the club while all shops were closed. It isn't a big deal, but I feel it is something they should've fixed up.

I often wonder if they watered it down also because villagers want to look good to the mayor. When villagers talk to each other, they are often fairly unkind.

A few big things.

The art style. Partially due to the 3DS’s graphical limitations, partially due to bad design choices. New Horizons looks much better so far in my opinion.
Isabelle. She was introduced in this game, and other special characters were often forgotten about in favor of her from that point on. Luckily, NH seems to be putting Tom Nook back into focus. I never liked Isabelle as to me she was like a peppy villager but more annoying.
Diving. It was a great idea in concept, but it felt sluggish and frustrating, so I ended up sticking with bug catching.

I agree with the general consensus about the villagers being too bland. I also agree that the diving mechanic is extremely clunky and tedious.

Aside from the villager issue and diving, my biggest gripe was always the public works projects. I dont mind the idea of working to pay for them. But it's the process of choosing where you are allowed and aren't allowed to have them that's the worst. If I'm designing my town I want as much liberty as possible. Not sure if it was a more technical reason why we HAVE to place the works project 2 spaces or more away but I kinda really hate it. I just wanted more liberties in placing things in the town. I think New Horizons will fix this but lord it will always bug me about New Leaf.

Several things

For one, I don't like how all of the characters have the same dialogue. They all just seem the same. I don't really like how they all more or less have the exact same personalities. Another thing that really isn't an issue but I would like if they had, is the ability to transfer mayorship to another one of the people registered in your card. I made a new character and made him my new default instead of my original, so it was really annoying when I had to go back and forth between the mayor and him just so I could get things done.

I never played Animal Crossing before New Leaf, so I wouldn't notice the personality changes. I did notice they usually say the same things over and over again. More dialog would be great for sure. I hate back when if you didn't play for a few days, all of a sudden your villagers would move. It was annoying. I lost many dreamies because I couldn't play New Leaf every single day. We do have lives. Thankfully that doesn't happen anymore. I wish you could have more public work projects at a time. And I wish villagers didn't have to request them Or they would request them more often. I mean I have had New Leaf for years and still can't make all the public work projects. I wish you put out the outside themed furniture actually outside. Grass deterioration is kinda annoying too. I shouldn't have to open a letter everytime. I don't need to read the same letter 100 times. Makes for kinda a slow process. I don't even check my mail until I am forced to because it is annoying. And in real life, you can move rocks. Why can't I move the darn rocks.
