Things not mentioned in the Direct

So, despite the update being so close, I'm enjoying trying to discover things that weren't mentioned in the direct. I can hardly wait!

Anyway, there are a few things that I would love to have come back that I listed below. If you guys have been exploring potential content as well, has there been any mention of:

Hide and seek with your villagers
Toy hammer item from the mini games in acnl
Snow bunny item
The pink crane game arcade item from acnl
Mini games and perfect fruit?

Do you think there will even be things that weren't mentioned in the 2.0 direct?

i think there will be several things not shown or mentioned in it (not even counting furniture and such, there should be tons not shown), but it could be so many things at this point lol

Oh definitely, I know there have been many things which weren't shown in update videos. I'm not sure about the mini games or perfect fruits, but I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of furniture released which haven't been mentioned in the update at all.

There is 100% a lot more stuff they didnt mention. They made it very clear during the direct that there was much when they were talking about certain features. Like the crops for example and the hairstyles. They kept saying "and more" which hints at their being a much broader list of those things, but they probably want us to be surprised. I firmly believe their will be some shop updates too, specifically to Nooks Crany.

I think there will likely be a bunch more furniture we haven't seen yet. I'm definitely hoping for that. I also hope for more major things we haven't seen, but the direct was so detailed that I don't have the feeling there is much else? But here's hoping, I'd love to see some of the minigames from New Leaf return, or at least Hide and Seek.

What I'm really hoping for is more ways to have fun with your friends. Like how you could go multiplayer on the island for the minigames there in New Leaf. I miss that kinda stuff. Now all I can really do with my friends is raid their shops, cover their islands with flowers when they leave me unattended too long, and smack them with my net/axe. I mean, there's a lot more if you get creative, but having that systems for gaming with friends was nice. ​

I think they would have shown off other features through tweets and things by now, so I think the only stuff we won't have seen in the direct is actually all of the new furniture because it seems there's so much of it coming back

Of course, I'm happy to be pleasantly surprised

I sadly also think there are going to be quite a few disappointed people when the update comes out, as they have misconstrued the direct.
Such as thinking there are more vegetables when the direct only said we could cook with more than the vegetables they listed. Which we know we can because you can cook with pumpkins and mushrooms and stuff.

I'm hoping for more than what they said as a surprise, not sure what but I'll be happy and excited whatever it is. They did keep hinting at more things, so who knows what is in store for the new update.

It is only 11.
There are 4 you buy with nook miles, and then 7 taught from Harriet.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat. Like, I'm the kind of person who has learned that you shouldn't create expectations because it's basically a monster that will eventually let you down.

I'm like, yeah, there's probably some thing that we'll like to see that they didn't show on the direct, but I'm really not expecting anything too relevant or game-changing.

This is exactly how I’m feeling. I think it’s just the new furniture we haven’t seen. I’m still unsure how I feel about the potential shop upgrade and whether it will happen.

Even after IGN confirmed with Nintendo a second time that they meant "no more content updates" after this (paraphrasing) I still saw people in the replies trying to reason why more things will still be added.

I think it's better to focus on what we have rather than what you want in the game because if nothing else is going to be added and it's just what we saw in the Direct + some more furniture (which it definitely seems like) then not doing so can only lead to disappointment and putting off enjoying the game for what it is.

Even though many of the major things I wanted weren't added I've accepted that and am excited for what we are getting!

I do think there’s decent odds of a few more interesting plants, possibly crops - the plants we saw the player take from the one Kapp’n island weren’t just vines, though they could be a strange and interesting form of weed. But I’d assume anything beyond ‘items of X variety’ not discussed there would be minor tweaks of the ‘not hotly-desired QOL’ variety. We’re probably not getting bulk crafting, but I could see a recipe that allows multiple fish bait at once maybe being possible.

The one thing I hope for is NPCs making Amiibo cameos via the Roost and DLC. We know we can invite people already in the game, but it would be nice to see Digby and Joan. If they’re not available, though, I understand why even as I’m disappointed - the new models and dialogue for all those special characters would be a lot for what’s essentially an easter egg to older fans, and I get the logic in their wanting to make new special characters and cycle them out rather than saying ‘and we have to put the train somewhere so Porter can show up.’

I feel pretty confident that there'll be a Nook's Cranny update and a lemon and/or banana tree. That's it though, I think other features are less likely. I have faith in these 2 because a) the store update was datamined and supported by a very accurate leaker and b) a lot of the cooking recipes have lemon slices in them, and there are bare palm trees on the new mystery islands.

I could be wrong but I've never put much stock in this so called leaker because they have only ever been vague, said things that have been datamined already, and have been wrong in the past.

They just seem suspicious to me.

But the upgrade was datamined in the past.
So in theory it could happen.

A recent European trailer showed a player with a recently made food dish while standing next to a Kitchen Island.

So that seems to hint that all oven items will be compatible to the cooking mechanic.

Also Nook app will get an upgrade to have the daily news of your island. Birthdays, NPC visitors, any daily news or upcoming events will be listed.

I wished they brought grace grace back in one form even if they were a passing through roll like the gamecube game instead of actually being in the island permanently.
since this is the last major update, i doubt grace will be added back in along with a few of the items you listen

I'm going off memory from last year, so perhaps I'm wrong, but the two things that were mined in last year's updates that we haven't seen are the museum gift shop (which perhaps is unlocked via the Roost?) And the Nook's Cranny upgrade.

Now it's certainly possible that circumstance got in the way and those got cut, so the coding is now just a vestigial remnant of their original plans. Or N is going to give us a couple of surprises with 2.0
