i keep thinking about how fun it would be to set up a plot for a vacant building.. pay a fee of 10,000 bells or more, and you get a building you can do anything with (think museum spaces in new leaf). with how little buildings there are at the moment, imagine how fun it would be to create more, customized, unique buildings for anything you want. personally, i just wanna build my own cafe, or an arcade, without setting up multiple houses and profiles i never end up using.

Yeah, I would like that a lot! I want to build a library and a restaurant for my island but not “outdoors” versions, and I don’t want to start a new character to use their house for it. A perpetually empty “themed” house doesn’t cut it for me.

What I want: actual buildings to place and actual programming to add islander interactions within those places. Because I see all these lovely exterior restaurants and book nooks in island videos but most of the time they are empty and end up looking sad because of it.

Some people don't want to use their house for a public space, but also don't want too make another user for that either. I think it's a good idea to be able to make a vacant building for whatever you so choose.

Reminds me of the "private/public lot" function in The Sims 3, another great game for watching your precious villagers townspeople go about their daily lives.

As to those saying "player houses do that", I'm pretty sure the reason that @aeroyAEIOU made this thread is because -- while you can do that with additional players' houses -- it's really only a feature to enjoy with other humans, as villagers never enter player homes.

Yeah it would be cool, and your villagers could visit too! I'm hoping if they add a café there may be a mini bakery as well. Or if they add a main street or city then there'd be restaurants and stuff. HHD had such cool buildings and some nice customisation options.

AAAAAAH THAT WOULD BE SO COOL! You would have to put in certain types of furniture for it to be considered a type of building, like in HHA. For example, for it to be a shop you have to have 4 tables and a cash register? Think the idea could be really fun!

I can see this as one of the future features in Animal Crossing, maybe not in New Horizons yet tho but I'd be down to see this come true, cuz that'll be cool tbh and more convenient than making a whole new character
