Hellos,

A few days ago I was expecting my Sanrio Toby card to arrive in the mail, it should have arrived already so I was concerned whenever I found my mail box empty.

Then when I was at work my brother says he found a wet envelope under one of our trees with international postage stamps on it. Turns out this wet envelope was Toby...

After staying in the linen cupboard for the rest of the day I come home to find a bent creased Toby :(

The only thing that made it better was the fact the card still was readable. Which is impressive considering it spend about 3-4 days outside being assaulted by New Zealands odd weather.

Anyways just thought I'd share my sad story. This probably belongs on the Brewster Cafe section but I thought it was relevant enough to fit here ^-^

Just be thankful it was only bent-creased, coulda been worst, like wet to the point where it would've broken apart

Awe, that's sad :( did you buy Toby off eBay or was it from a trade?

It was of Ebay. The reason it was under a tree is (well what I think) because they must of not put it in the mailbox properly, i.e. It was sticking out. Then our Wellington wind must of blown it out.

If my brother hadn't found it I'm sure it would've broken apart, as he said it was really mushy and felt semi-liquid.

[Off-Topic] is the wind where you live very strange compared to nearby places? I know that Where I live (Cape Breton Island), the more hilly side of the island has a very strange system, so whenever it's blowing, say 40km/h wind where i'm at, on the other side of the island its blowing at 80km/h. I'm surprised people can live there, Especially during wintertime, when we get usually upwards of 40cm of snow regularly, which combined with the wind, would literally buey their homes.

I wouldn't say strange, but Wellington just has lots of wind generally. It's situated at one end of the cook straight, which separates the North and the South islands of New Zealand. Therefore it gets lots of coastal winds and the fact that where I live is in a valley it gets funneled through at times.

Ah, i see, Yeah, Sydney (The other Sydney) and it's surrounding area is kinda like that, considering its basically all hilly then up north its highland

Oh my goodness. Those Sanrio cards are expensive! Trust me, I know. I bought the whole set of 6 for $34. I feel so bad for you. You must have been devastated when the thing you were looking forward to got to you wet and in an unsuitable condition! I think you should complain about your mail deliverer.

Yeah, the postman coulda knocked on the door atleast, and if your door had a mail slot, he could've just slid it inside

In New Zealand envelopes are just put in your mailbox. If you get a courier delivery they knock. I'm going to be using a PO BOX address in the future so all my mail is safe at the post office for my next deliveries.

I guess it was just dumb luck that it happened to poor Toby ^-^

I'm really too laid back and lazy to ever complain ^-^

It's much easier for me to accept reality and go with the flow ^-^

I like your attitude! I'm sure you're a happier person because of it. If it were me, I would be obsessing over the fact that it was ruined and probably not get over it ever, and end up wasting money on a new one :(

Lol, I never thought of it that way. I guess he won't look so bad when he goes into a sleeve and straightens out a bit more. I'm also waiting on about 10 more cards I purchased, if that one was lost or damaged then I'd be really annoyed...

Yikes!! I guess it's lucky it was found at all, let alone in in time (just) to be saved!

I live in Melbourne and the posties here can be quite lackadaisical. So far we haven't lost any packages or important mail, but that's more due to fluke than anything else. I've been holding off on ordering any of the amiibo cards partially because of the letterbox situation.. I think I might just arrange to have them delivered to a friend with a more weather-friendly setup when I do go ahead.

Yeah, the problem is that I've had so much delivered successfully in the past that I never really expected anything like this to happen. As you said maybe taking precautions is a good way to go. I'm generally quite paranoid and almost always double check things before committing.

The other thing is its hard to predict weather in Wellington, as we literally have four seasons in one day. Raining in the morning, overcast midday and then super sunny in the afternoon followed by super wind and another bunch of cloud coverage ^-^

Edit: that's just one really weird day though ^-^ it was nice and sunny today, although it's raining on Friday I think...
