I don't use or look at any social media at all aside from certain things on YouTube that are usually of a tutorial or how-to nature or the odd humor video. The TBT forums are as close to social media as I have, and I do use Discord but only if I absolutely have to as I don't know anyone.
I really dislike Facebook, I have one but rarely use it unless I have to for school. I never post anything and I have very few friends, I don't like the idea of Facebook knowing who my friends are or where I went to school or whatever. It's all very creepy to me and while I know other social media websites also collect information about you, I feel like Facebook is among the worst ones out there. That makes me way less likely to ever use it for anything other than necessary school work (I have had group projects that required me to be part of a Facebook group or use Messenger), buying or selling things on Facebook Marketplace (though this is a bit sketchy and I feel like I'm going to get scammed, it's free and I have sold some old university literature I don't need anymore) or whatever. So while I still use Facebook sometimes (and right now even have the app installed on my phone, something I never would have done a few months ago) I really, really do not like it and would therefore consider it the worst social media platform.
I used to use twitter a lot when I was like 12 (lol) but now I only use it for uploading my Animal Crossing screenshots. I don't like the uhh Vibes but I don't mind it as a platform, I just never use it.
TikTok is pretty bad too. I have it on my phone but I find myself disliking most things I see on there and I find a lot of the content on the app to be annoying and embarrassing.
The platforms I use the most are Reddit (hah.) and Tumblr, but I don't really love Reddit either because of the communities. A large majority of Reddit communities are not my cup of tea, so to say. I still use it for looking at cute animal pictures and to some extent be active in mental illness communities, which is an okay part of the website.
I would have to say I like Tumblr the most, but that's only because I've used it for so long and have chosen a small community to be part of and isolate myself to that part only. I'm mostly on Animal Crossing Tumblr, it's nice and I don't have to see a ton of Tumblr drama or cringe.
Facebook will always be enemy #1 for me. I always hated it. It's like if someone encased that feeling of being bullied in school in a social media platform and just let people run rampant on it lol. Too much negativity, I'll never use it again!
My favorite is probably instagram, just because I've surrounded myself with good people/friends and it's usually pretty lighthearted. I use it to get creative and have a good time. Tumblr gets an honorable mention for being my favorite in high school/college but I haven't used it in years!
I know people may have different mileage but I liked Myspace lololol. It was so chaotic and fun back then. Of the surviving social media, I like Tumblr even though it's on it's last legs. I rarely saw terrible things on my dash bc I was choosy about who I followed and basically I curated a drama free, fun dash. Twitter will show you awful stuff from people you don't follow bc it hates us and FB loves turning my older relatives into conspiracy nuts IG is okay but I don't follow tummy tea pushers lmao.
I don't count messenger apps like discord/snapchat social media really, snapchat kinda is I guess.
Tumblr has gotten even better now that kpoppers, furries, and nsfw people moved to twitter.
On tumblr you can make fun of celebrities and no one will care. If you make fun of a celebrity on twitter it will become a national discussion for like 3 days. You make a joke about Ariana Grande so badly wanting to be mixed race and someone will accuse you of "gaslighting" or whatever the popular buzzword is.
Anything funny from twitter is usually stolen from tumblr and im like... "I saw this meme 6 months ago..."
honestly i don't use social media all that much but if i could choose one, my favourite one is tumblr! it's a bit quiet nowadays, but that makes it all the better. i've learnt so much there, it's expressive and there's a community for everything there. i used to hate it a ton for some reason but it eventually kind of grew on me.
the worst social media platform? TIKTOK. i only use it to see cool cosplayers. i wouldn't use it for any other reason. i've seen the true colours of some people there and i'm trying not to use it as much anymore. instagram kinda sucks too but i use it for cosplayers and my friends, again. idk much about twitter tbh.
Tumblr will always be my favourite social media site. I love how expressive you can be without having to say a word. It's such a creative place to be and can be a great source of comfort away from other social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. However I'm going to say Instagram and Pinterest come in a close second as both are great creative outlets and if you follow the right people it can be a great source of positivity.
Facebook and Twitter are probably two of the worst as they're both highly opinionated platforms that can really make you feel oppressive for not coming across as a certain way. Facebook is all about showing off the perfect aspects of your life, engagements, marriages and births etc. Whereas Twitter is fast becoming a place where you have to have an opinion about everything just to stay on everyone's good side otherwise you're pretty much thrown to the wolves.
Unpopular opinion, I still (kinda) like Instagram? Idk it's gone WAY downhill since Facebook took over and they changed the algorithm from chronological to whatever it is now, but I still have fun taking pictures and curating my feed to look nice!
I can't stand Twitter anymore. Everything is too political and toxic and everyone takes everything too seriously there. It's a shame, bc I used to love Twitter. I still check it from time to time, but mostly bc I don't have anything else to check
