The wait for Halloween (...and winter) is killing me, and it made me realize something...

I posted a thread about being extremely eager for the frozen set, and I'm also counting the days until Halloween so I can get the rest of the spooky items... And I realized, this is the first Animal Crossing game that I've both stuck with and played "normally" and dealt with this anticipation.

Gamecube I played for literal years, but I time traveled HEAVILY, and experienced all the events within a month or two.

WW I also played for years, but it doesn't really have events worth TTing to, acorn festival aside... I TT'd to that one.

CF I got bored of after like 3 months. Only experienced festivale.

NL at launch I got bored of after 6 months. I kind of did Toy Day, but I didn't know what the villagers wanted, so I guessed. I did festivale and bunny day. This one I'm remedying, because I'm playing NL and NH side by side daily so I can accurately compare them (The music and dialogue in NH is way better, fight me :P )... Although I'm TT-ing heavily in NL.

NH is the only one I'm still playing daily 7 months later, without TT. This is the first time I've experienced feeling "omg I just want 'insert event' to get here" in game. Normally I'd have just TT'd in the past....

I wonder what the difference is? I wonder if it is because stuff is gated behind updates and it's deterred TTing for me? (This is NOT a bash TT-ing thread...) I wonder if it's because I'm more engaged in the AC community? I don't know, but I find it interesting.

Anyone else find their habits with this game deviating from your usual? What do you make of this? :)

I don't feel the need to TT to events in NH, and as folks know, I really loathe winter as it doesn't snow where I am, and the white causes ocular migraines.

I'm thinking of TT'g past winter, as winter has caused me to delete every AC town since 2005. :(

That's how I usually am with summer, minus the migraines (I'm sorry D: )! I usually run into a wall every summer in game. It didn't happen this time for some reason...

I wish it was always summer, that's why I loved Tortimer island.
It was an escape from winter any time I wanted. :)

Summer does have the advantage of sharks and beetles! But I'd be in a literal hell if it was always summer :P I want to go to an island where it's always snowy and there are lights on the trees :D

Maybe this time there can be two islands we can go to... Summery Tortimer's Island and Wintery Cornimer's island 😜

I've TT'd to winter before out of sheer boredom and hated it.

It doesn't snow where I live as well (never seen snow in my whole life actually), and the white is just depressing.
I quickly longed to TT back so I can experience some green again haha!

I'm also not too fond of the frozen/festive stuff.
Might end up TT'ing past it at some point, idk.

Lol, I didn't expect this to become a summer vs. winter thread, but I'll chime in and say I'm the exact opposite xD I can't wait for the green to go away and get replaced with orange/brown/white!

Whoops, sorry :ROFLMAO:

I'm a compulsive TT'er and NH is my first AC game.

I'm too impatient and find the pace of the game to be too slow for me, and I think if TT'ing didn't exist I would be too bored to continue w/the game 😅 To each their own!

No worries, I thought it was kind of funny :P

Oh, I have no qualms with TT at all. Like I said in the first post, I used to TT like crazy, and still do in NL because I find NL too slow. NH is the first time I haven't, and I don't really know why :)

Halloween was a bit anticlimactic. I had all the items & DIYs in literally 15 minutes. It was so fast! You get ping'd every 10 seconds, give candy, get item/DIY/lollipop. You only get two items from Jack (his robe & pumpkin head) and 2 DIYs (wand & carriage). After that there's no reason to give him more lollipops because he just gives you more pumpkin heads & robes.

I was thinking, "Thank goodness I didn't wait all month in anticipation of a 15 minute event! "

Fortunately, I know that there isn't a ton to collect! I just want the rug/floor/wall and reactions mostly, and to run around with halloween music playing :)

As someone who started my second island in winter, I LOVED it. I started CF in the winter so it’s nostalgic to see the game cloaked in white. However, I think my island is best suited to late fall. The frozen set is one of the better seasonal sets, though.

The Spooky set is cute, but I liked the Creepy set in New Leaf so much better.

I wish there had been Halloween music. Something eerie, but no. Just the same old music.

The song that plays in the trailer isn't the background music on Halloween? It was in NL. Just assumed it'd be the same!

The room looks so good 😍

This is the music that plays - it's the same old drone ... NEW HORIZONS HALLOWEEN MUSIC

There's nothing about it that resembles Halloween music. Honestly, it was so annoying, I muted it after a few minutes. I haven't seen the trailer, so I don't what's playing in that.

Same here. I've played it daily since launch, and like that's it's part of my routine. I feel like time traveling would kill some of that anticipation.

This is the Animal Crossing Halloween music. It's very similar to what played in NL - not sure about gamecube or CF.

my habits have differently changed over the years aha. wild world was my first ac game and i was pretty young when i got it + when i was the most obsessed with it. i honestly don’t remember much of what i did or didn’t do but i do remember that when i searched the game up online, i was so shocked to see that there were other games + tips and tricks for ww. it took me forever to gather information about the game whereas now, i look up guides for almost everything just to make sure that i’m not overlooking something aha.

between wild world and new leaf, the only habit that stayed constant was time travelling; in wild world, i did it just for kicks and younger me enjoyed the thought of manipulating time lmao but with new leaf, i mostly did it because i wanted to unlock everything as soon as possible. but other than that, new leaf changed a lot for me; i was playing with and trading with other players + brainstorming about the villagers that i’d want to have and possible name/town names. before, i had just gone with the flow of things but after growing up a little + finally using the internet for something other than moshi monsters and youtube, i tried to put a little more thought into things, if that makes sense aha.

and again with new horizons, a lot has changed; i don’t time travel as much as i used to (i’ve only done it to catch sharks when it was still spring + to catch up to real time after a hiatus) and prefer to play one day at a time now. also, instead of only trading with people, i’ve begun to actually play the game with some friends which is something i was too anxious to do a few years ago but i’ve grown to realize that it’s nice to play with friends sometimes c’: ,, (thank you @Dunquixote & @Midoriya for putting up with my awkwardness🧡).

and that’s pretty much it!! i don’t make much from this other than the fact that i’ve grown up and have made it a habit to search up information, rather than going in blind aha. i practically grew up with this franchise and so it’s nice to sometimes look back on how i’ve evolved over the years c’:

The trick here is to find other games to play with and not just stick with Animal Crossing only. I can survive without time traveling because of this.

I only dedicate a hour or two playing the game and doing daily stuffs nowadays. That's unless if someone visits my shop thread and posts a catalog order.

If you don't desire to play any other games, it's really going to become a huge struggle indeed.
