Hope it's ok to ask this here, I figured you guys might know as you're so used to it all. Generally how long does it take for the game to give you a random villager?

I ask as I'm down to 8 as of this morning, but have asked for 2 from this board, 1 which will be packed on the 28th and the other on the 31st, I know I'll be safe to get the later one, but I don't want a random villager moving in before I can get the one on the 28th!

A random can come at any time.
But what you can do is everyday, before you login to your mayor, create a new character and run around and see if anybody tries to move in. If you see a plot, just quit and try again. If you dont, build your house, save then delete that character.
(Remember the day resets at 6am)

Unfortunately your 9th villager can move in at any time. If you want to be safe, you could create a throwaway character and check your town before you go in with a saved character each day. Use your throwaway to survey the town and make sure there are no new plots set up. If not, save, then delete the throwaway character and go in as a regular character. I hope that made sense, let me know if you need me to clear it up!

Ahhhh, I thought I'd seen a trick for it but couldn't remember what it was!
I was thinking I'd have to not play tomorrow then tt back and play the 27th and 28th on the same day, but that way is much easier. Thanks!

So plots will only appear at the start of a new day? Not any other time?

if you only have eight villagers i think theres a small chance every day that someone new will move in? but theres a 100% chance to get one on the seventh day- if you only have eight villagers still P

before you start your game each morning, make a new character and look around for any plots that might have sprung up over night!! if there arent any, place your house and save. if there are plots then reset and try again!!

He's a tricky guy, my sister has him too and he pulled the "you don't like me enough so I'm not moving away anymore" thing on her when she agreed to him moving. I hope you can get rid of him soon, lol.

Have you tried the trick of talking to them over and over until they have a thought bubble and then time travel? It seems to be working for most who want specific villagers to leave.

I just don't really like the Monkeys at all. I had Tammi in my town for the longest time too. Then Simon moved in when I didn't play for two days. >.< I just can't catch break from these terrible Monkeys. haha.
