The villager cycle - how do you know when a villager can return?

A loooong long time ago, when I first started Noveon, I had Bob in my town. I loved him and he became one of my favorites! But back then, I didn't know how to check to see if a villager was thinking of leaving, and he ended up moving away.

Well, I keep track of how many villagers I've moved out since I started the game, and I'm at 19. How do I find out if Bob can return to my town yet? I don't want to go and buy him from someone in an auction, only to find out that I still need to move out a villager or two more before he can return. What do I do?

You have to cycle through 16 villagers before Bob can return to your town.

Yes, I know that. But the thing is, how do I know *when* it's been 16 villagers since Bob? Because I didn't keep track of my move-outs in any specific order, all I did was keep tally. For all I know, I'm at the 16 villager point now with Bob, since he was one of my earlier villagers. But how do I find out if he can now move back? Do I need to find someone with Bob in boxes? Is that my only option?

Just to be safe, if you think you're at 16, make sure one more moves out.

Then visit a town when he is in boxes and see if he gives you the option to move in.

Also - as a tip, I've started writing down the names in order of who is moving out so I can keep track in case I want to get them again. I had to think about it, and look at a few photos of villagers celebrating PWPs, but now I have my list. It's super helpful when you really want someone in particular back again.

Someone told me today that once the villager no longers appears in the shop area, they can be brought back. I did it just today with Kid Cat

you need to cycle 16 villagers after a certain villager moved out. when they stop appearing in the main street then u can bring them back like what Dorian stated

Bob has never once appeared in main street so I don't think I can go by that in this case.
