The re-release of The Sims and The Sims 2 with all their expansion packs is a dream come true for many fans, especially those who have struggled to access these classic games on modern systems. While The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection was previously given away for free, The Sims 1 has been much harder to obtain, making this an exciting opportunity for those who missed out on the game that started it all.

I completely understand the mixed reactions regarding pricing. Since EA once gave away The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection for free, some players might have expected a similar approach this time around. I expected nothing less šŸ™‚

Personally, I think the ability to finally play The Sims with all its expansions is a huge win for me. There’s something special about the simplicity and charm of the original game; the quirky sound effects, the pixelated but endearing graphics, and the chaotic unpredictability.
I can’t wait to play it! Hopefully it works 🤣

Any simmers on the forums? What’s your
opinion?

Update…
Disappointment. The Sims launches and immediately closes for me. Many people seem to have this problem over at the EA forums. I tried every fix I could find, hopefully EA fixes this soon. I see some people are running it fine so I have hope. Luckily, I already own the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection so I can’t play that in the meantime.

Update…
There was a fix! I finally got my game to work and now about to start playing. So excited 🄳

What worked for me: šŸ’š

I played The Sims and The Sims 2 as a kid. I don't think I'd last long if I tried to replay them, but looking at the EA page for them and seeing the screenshots, the nostalgia is real! It does make me want to play it, just for the memories! šŸ˜… I love seeing all the old dĆ©cor and fashion from the screenshots, lol.

It looks like the price is AUD$29.95 for The Sims Legacy Collection, and AUD$49.95 for The Sims 2 Legacy Collection. I feel like AUD$29.95 is pretty fair. I'm less comfortable with AUD$49.95, though!

I really hope you're enjoying replaying it! šŸ’—

I have a few concerns. I fear that this will be something that EA creates to satisfy a portion of the fanbase and ignores, as with the Sims 3 64 bit. I play it because I use a Mac, and it’s riddled with known bugs reported hundreds of times on Answers HQ that they just neglect to attend to. I was already able to access 2 because it’s on the App Store for some odd reason, and it plays like a charm; it’s really great that a wider scope of players will have access to it! I’ve never had an awful lot of interest in the original game, but it’s also awesome that people who are into that get to play too. I’m just a little worried, that’s all. Oh, and the cynic in the corner of my brain is grumbling non-stop about how it’s just a mindless cash grab, so as much as I’d like her to shut up, I should probably address her too. I really do want this to be a success for players though.
