I love almost everything about NH. Except this. I want a second island, that I can play around with and do things I wouldn’t do with my main island. But I can’t afford a second switch. I wish so bad I could just buy another copy of the game. I have 3 NL towns and loved having those. So it’s a tough adjustment only having one island

To be honest the whole "One island but up to eight people can live on it" makes no sense to me. Show of hands: How many people have eight user accounts on their Switch. That would actually be used in a game like this. And you've made eight players with their own houses.

It would've made more sense, in my opinion anyway, to have one island per account but up to four players can live on the island. You could still support co-op multiplayer with no problems. Odd choice, but then again Nintendo has never been one to stray away from strange decisions.

Yeah maybe I’ll pick up a switch lite eventually, but sadly can’t afford it right now. I suppose I should be grateful I even have a switch at all

ya i hate that, i wanted my brother to play the game too :<

I would be more than willing to buy 2 copies of ACNH so I can have two islands but I can't even do that? Even different NL copies let me have two different town. This sucksssssss, hopefully somebody will figure out a way to let us have two islands anyway

That's one of the only things that doesn't bother me.

One island is enough. (For me.)

I'm just disappointed I can't at the very least buy a second game to play on the same console. I know the argument against it is the data is saved on the system, but there's got to be a way to identify one cartridge from another. There absolutely could be, at least.

I think the biggest issue is for people who were sold on the idea that a whole family could play on one island, when in reality every extra player aside from the individual who first moved to the island is essentially a tag along with no responsibilities at all. Nintendo really let people down with that one.

Although I wish we could have a second island, in new leaf the characters 2, 3, and 4 didn’t have any real responsibility either

Honestly, I think it's even worse in this game than previous ones that you can't have multiples. Since we have so much more customization freedom, if it were possible to have multiples without multiple Switches, I could see people having islands with completely different themes. It'd be interesting!

...though since, at the moment (maybe permanently?), there is no Dream Suite, it's not like we can see others' islands very easily anyway. :(

Oh totally, I don't disagree and do think we should be able to have more than one island either between other user accounts on the Switch or between more than one physical copy of the game. My point is just that Nintendo wanted to encourage people playing together, and the let everyone down because only the main character had the interesting responsibilities. Nintendo didn't try to sell this amazing "island life with your friends and family" thing with New Leaf.

Yea, I've already been having those feels and I think most of it comes from wanting to be active in a community or help friends. Having one town is very limiting.
I feel like I either have to choose between working on legitimate progress in building my actual main town or hindering any progress/compromising my town to really do things I'd like to in order to help others. I either have to put off having villagers I like to prioritize scanning in and getting out friend's wanted characters where if I had a second town I wouldn't have to juggle it in my main.
Early in NL, I did a lot of cycling initially, did quite a few large giveaways, helped several hold items while they reset. On a different note, having a town to dump large quantity of items was helpful especially with landscaping items.
Part of me really likes my map and wants to try terraforming but I'm scared I'll mess up terraforming and not being able to go back. So having a second town to trial and error with is helpful (using the online map creator only goes so far).
It's also nice having more than one to put different themed items into. I like so many of the items but I don't really like mixing different themes so it was nice being able to actively collect and pursue more than one type of town design.

So, overall, I do miss having the convenience a spare town gives. I'm pretty lucky to have a pretty supportive partner whom keeps urging me to get a second one to fully enjoy it how I want to lol. XD Still, just crazy...really wish nintendo would have did things different.

Yeah, I wish Nintendo did it differently, as you said. I may pick up a switch lite eventually, but Overall this sucks

I have 3 islands and 3 switches. One is the AC special edition and because I am a collector, I don't see myself opening that one!

At the moment, I am balancing 2 islands and from my perspective it is a lot of hard work!!!

It's nothing like NL. NL was so easy to play... I ended up with 5 towns (had 6 3DS's, 2 of those were special edition). NL is cake walk compared to NH.

I am only utilizing 2 islands at the moment, and I am so far behind. Maybe because I am trying to start a cycling island but NMT really throws a wrench in those plans and also I don't want to use my amiibos for said cycling island.

I honestly don't think 2 islands are worth it right now. Maybe when I get more of a rhythm going.... Crafting and terraforming take up a lot of time mentally and tools don't help with the stress because of their durability. It's a mess! Visiting other islands just makes it that much worse because my main island looks like a deserted island ;)

However, I do use my Switch more than I ever used my 3DS due to various games (Zelda, Fire Emblem). So, I guess that is a plus.

Anyhow, I digress, 2 islands are a pain! That's just my 2 cents!

I've been looking for someone to ask questions about this!

Since you have 3 of them, would you mind letting me know how you make it work. My question essentially is with two switch's, do you just link you same nintendo account to both? Do you have the digital copy and, if so, do you just redownload on the second switch or do you have to buy separate games? Lastly, are you able to wifi between the two or do you have to have separate nintendo accounts/online memberships/games to make wifi possible?

My husband pays for a Nintendo Family Online Account. But yes, for every individual switch I have a separate account. I own 2 physical copies and one digital. There are no switching cartridges.

In regards to your last question, when I want to trade between my main island and second island I can use local play (similar to NL) or I can create a Dodo Code (suppose I had kids or something and didn't want them playing or my neighbor randomly coming to my island).

All said accounts fall under the umbrella of the Family membership- one monthly fee.

For example: If you didn't have Nintendo Online, one could use local play between the two switches. Orville actually tells you he is turning off the internet when you opt to play locally.

I hope I answered all of your questions!

Your villager has the same birthday as me. The one on your avatar.

Thank you, your explanation helped a lot!

It just Nintendo lame ducking excuse for cash grab. There no reason multiple island can't be on one Switch. Literally none. So Nintendo said they want 8 people on one switch yet also said they want everyone to own their own switch? Yeah I'm not buying it, this is a shameless cash grab and nothing more.

Nintendo apologists can defend them in every which way, but we all know it a cashgrab. They say one thing but do the opposite.
