I just want to make sure I know exactly how it works, because last time it didn't.

Last time, I created my character at around 6:10 am to look for the new house spot that I was expecting. However, my town was still in the time before. It wasn't until after I got my TPC that the game auto-saved and went to the Town Hall Scene of "Wake Up, Everybody!" that my town was in the next day even though it was already past 6am. Luckily the spot was in a good spot, but can someone please explain to me how to do this method?

You dont need to do it ay 6am,just the first time you log on
i usually do the reset method at 10am when i wake up, since the game hasnt loaded the new game with my mayor it doesnt matter
can never understand why people are waking up at 6am, setting their clock to do it
aslong as you dont log on with the mayor on a new day, you could do it at like 10pm :p
So just make the character later in the morning

On the day you know the plot of a villagers house will show up (The ropes, not the house itself). Do not go onto your Mayors file. Instead create a new character, and then run around to find the house. If it's in an inconvenient location, or if it's an undesired neighbor, press the Home button, close ACNL, and repeat. If the villager is who and where you want the house to be, simply make your character build their tent, save and exit, then demolish that persons house. It will most likely leave a dirt patch, so build it in the same spot every time. I recommend building it on an already large section of dirt, so the wear isn't too bad.

Like Gizmodo said, you can do it at 10pm if you wanted to. I'm doing it right now, actually, and it's 12pm where I am. No need to get up so early hehe.

I'm a little confused about what you're saying happened here, so perhaps it'd be most simple if I just laid out the steps? I feel it's important to note that 6am isn't really that big of a deal, the real key is jumping a day, forwards or backwards, past 6am, when the game auto-saves/considers it a "new day".

1. Save your game from whatever you're doing on your main character and close the game (if necessary).
2. Go into System Settings and move 1 day, backwards or forwards; adjust the time if you need to so as to avoid hitting 6am (I usually like to set my time to noonish, because daylight is easy to run around in).
3. Open ACNL and create a new character.
4. Search the town for a villager plot or camper. If the plot/camper is acceptable, go to Town Hall, get your pass, and save the game.
5. Delete the character (optional) if it's a plot. Load up the Mayor and convince the camper to move in if it's a tent.
6P (for plots). Move to the correct date to secure the house (plot, optional step to expedite villager communications).
6T (for tents). Move one day, load up your Mayor, save.
7T (for tents). Move one more day, roll a new character.
8T (for tents). Look for the new plot of the camper. If the plot is acceptable, go to Town Hall, get your pass, and save the game.
9T (for tents). Delete the character (optional).

It should also probably go without saying that you need 8 villagers to get plots or campers; with 9, you should only be getting campers.

Okay, thanks. It must've been that I played too early or something. I didn't actually set my alarm to wake me up at 6am just to go search for the plot either. I had to wake up at 5am to get ready that morning and when 6am rolled around, I figured, "Why not?"
