The Quest for Blue Roses

Yesterday afternoon I got down in the dirt and decided I wanted to try growing blue roses. After a wee bit of Googlin' I read that these things have an insanely low chance of spawning; something like 1.6%, and only from red roses that are, themselves, hybrids. Is this true? If so, my oh my it's gonna be a long summer! Haha!

Has your personal quest for hybrid flowers been a painful journey?

I just set up a big hybrid garden to grow all my hybrids! Through my research, I hear that it is much easier to grow hybrids if you have friends come over and water your flowers. Those who work together, grow lots of pretty hybrid flowers together!

i cultivate them to give out as gifts now.

i did hybrid farms back when i leveled my island since i had a ton of space. i got blues from special hybrid oranges though.

According to this guide (sorry it's in French ) which is 100% accurate,

we can grow red roses that have 25% chance to make a blue one. But the process is longer than getting the red ones that have 1,56%

And also make sure that at step 5 the purple roses have the right genom.
For that we have to test the purple ones we get from step 4 with a yellow rose (from a seed). If the roses they produce are yellow then the purple rose is ok !

Orange roses make blues too.

The orange ones that make blue ones are from the hybrid island. They are not the same hybrids as the ones we grow ourselves (But yes according to the guide I posted orange ones can make blue ones but not the common orange ones though)

I'm feeling very optimistic about heading into this big gardening project. My setup isn't the biggest, but I'm hoping that over the next couple of days I'll at least end up with a black rose so I can start aiming for a golden one or something.

I'll have to get a watering party going soon!

This is going to sound silly, but I've been fed up with the fast-paced nature of Discord lately so I've ditched the app on my phone and I'm going back to good ol' forums for everything I possibly can. I think if you are looking for a shortcut, just buy one blue rose from someone. And set it between 2 other species of flowers. (not roses). Every time you water them, you get a chance of the flower cloning itself. so you will get another blue rose directly. And this change grows more and more. for example if you get 5 people to water same flowers, it will be a 80% chance of cloning itself.

(this works with any flower! HELLO green mums )

now I'm really considering just buying 2 blue roses and cloning them :c

I could buy some, but I want to grow my own from scratch as a little project for myself as I already have all the other hybrids. Over the weekend, I watched some videos for ideas, then cleared a space for some nursery areas and got started.

I expect to be at it for several weeks at least lmao.

Depending on how many flowers you have, it could take a while. If you have 10 pairs, you have a roughly 15% chance that one of them will breed a blue rose. In theory, at least. This is ultimately still RNG

If your really lazy (like me) you should just buy 2 blue roses and put them together to see if you get another blue one, that's how I'm doing it haha I don't like work

I breed mine and finally got one today, but I play pretty much alone mostly. It took me about 5 in game months? I finally got my first today. I was just about to trash the whole project to so im glad.

I found this helpful video on how to grow blue roses. Maybe you or someone else might find this helpful as well so I thought I'd share. I am planning to try this method myself since Nintendo decided to remove hybrid island without announcing it.
