So, why is everyone hating on the New Leaf Prima Guide?
This site, Gamefaqs, and a Facebook page for trading, everyone calls it Garbage and says it's incomplete.
I guess it IS a guide, but I feel it's primary function is a working catalog for multiple players to keep track of everything.
I've recently hit the 50% catalog badge and aside from DLC, everything has been in there.
So what's the deal with all the hate?

"Hate?" You mean "dislike." It has dozens and dozens of mistakes, plus the glaring omissions. It doesn't even show images of the villagers!

I don't hate it, but I'm not happy with the mistakes and missing info. Total fail on the coffee guide (I happen to have a handful of the villagers they got wrong). I got it half off on amazon pre-ordering it, and I'm not sorry we have it but....I definitely don't love it. I never liked Prima guides and I'm sorry they're the only game left in town.

I didn't know the coffee guide was inaccurate. It hasn't steered me wrong yet. In fact, I find it to be more reliable than the online one from thonky. That one got at least one of my villagers wrong. It's great because it has the coffee preferences for the special characters, which the Prima guide doesn't even mention, but I haven't found a coffee mistake yet in the Prima guide for my villagers (and the visiting villagers who aren't residents in my town).

I like the guide overall and find it useful. It's definitely incomplete and could be more specific in lots of places, but as a guide that doesn't give everything away and leaves some surprises, I guess it does its job. For the price, though, Google searching for what you're trying to find out is easier than the guide.

Yeah, friends of mine have had 100% with the Prima coffee guide. I'm just lucky I guess! :p I'm just writing the correct info into the Prima guide as I find the mistakes.

No, I mean hate. That's what I've been seeing from people when its mentioned. Not, "That's not a very good guide.." Its, "That thing is garbage, shouldn't have been written, nothings right!" I've had no problems from it so far. The lack of villager images really isn't necessary for a guide, either. You can't control your villagers, aside from collecting movers, so there's no way to be guided with that. It's just that every time I mention the thing, I get flack over it.

I don't "hate" the guide, I HATE "PRIMA", They have been making inaccurate game guides since the early 90s. Yes I complained about their books even back in the pre-internet days, but luckily back then other companies even including Nintendo also made game guides so back then there were better and more accurate books to buy and use. Now Prima has the monopoly.

The real problem is that they have convinced most game companies to make them the 'official' guide for their games and thus stopping other more accurate books being made as guides by other companies. And as usual, if there is no competition then you don't have to produce a quality product, and they never have.

So I will HATE Prima and continue to do so until the day that they decide to make the effort to produce a quality product. But after all these years of the same low workmanship, I'm not holding my breath.

I haven't had any trouble with the Prima guide, I brought it the same day I brought ACNL and everything I've read in it has been correct so far.

I wish I would have seen this before I bought it. It Kinda defeats the object of having a guide when you have to look on the internet for a coffee guide on Special Characters.
