Selling The pricing is different?!

I have been selling my items through Nook's Cranny, however, noticed something: the prices of the item I am selling usually increases/decreases during a certain time. For instance, I was selling a Gigas Giant Clam at around 3 a.m. where the price was 12,000 Bells, then when I sold another at around 8 a.m, the price increased to 15,000 Bells. Any idea why?

May I ask, how did you sell them? Did you use the box for one and directly to the twins for the other? I ask this, because if you sell through the box, it takes a portion, a tax. But of course you don't pay that, and get the full amount if you sell it to the twins directly.

When you sell items through the drop off box it's 80% the price of when you sell them to the twins in store.
