the pink hydrangea is purple..change my mind

You guys are looking at one or two specific varieties when comparing them to "irl hydrangeas" but they aren't just purple and blue as shown in the picture upthread, lol. As a gardener I need y'all to know that, irl, hydrangeas do come in pink, purple, and blue (as well as white and I've seen some pretty deep reddish ones as well - there are even some that stay eternally greenish). A fair amount of cultivars are represented here if you want to look.

But yes, it seems like the "pink" variety ingame was a mistranslation bc those are definitely purple. Or the person handling it was colorblind maybe? haha

Yeah, I was expecting them to look like the shade of pink in New Leaf. I planted them and immediately thought purple. Thankfully, the spot I planted them had a pink/blue/purple theme, so it still worked. I coupled it with some pink mums and yellow cosmos, so it wouldn't look as stark.

To be honest I'm glad it's more purple. Though it's a bit selfish of, me I admit. They're the closest bush to purple in the game, and therefore go wonderfully with my galaxy aesthetic where my main colors are blue/purple/black.

i ended up using buying the actual pink bushes (camelias or something like that?) because of just how deep the purple is. even in the video compared to the pink mums and even the peaches in the tree on the right you can tell it's a completely different color.

This was likely an issue of the word purple being too long, or they made a mistake in the localization because if you play the game in Japanese they're called purple hydrangeas. Can't speak for other languages but I'm guessing its the same.

And I love thats they're giving us more color options with the bushes! I can't have pink bushes everywhere haha. But I hope they make one with green flowers like the mums

They are purple yes but I really like them anyway - I think the pink azaleas gives enough variation for pink bushes so the purple looks nice on the hydrangeas

No it looks like it was just the guide I've been using that calls the hydrangea options 紫・青, but I'm guessing the writer wanted to use purple instead of pink since that's what the flowers actually look like? But either way I love the new color, just don't get why they don't call it purple

They look purple to me which is why I use them in my purple/blue flower patch and they look great there!

i wanna say this too. those were actually magenta-ish/purple/blue hydrangeas! i'm pretty sure they are true pink hydrangeas, some that's more pastel. and even if we're not talking about irl ones, we're talking about the name of the item. which is misleading.

I did a row of alternating pink purple and blue hydrangeas outside my museum, and I'm actually kind of glad that they look more purple. With the two clouds together, the purple probably looks better alongside the blue than a pink would.

It's definitely purple. I don't know why it's called pink here. The purple mums match the colour with the bushes in the inventory.
