The only thing keeping me from continuing to visit here is the lack of maturity. If I can't talk about religion, a serious topic, I just don't know; it seems childish. If you're not 13 or older you shouldn't be here. Making the rules to work for someone younger than 13 seems to me like we're condoning breaking the rules.

I know things I do are not acceptable for a forum. (Instigating a flame war, constant insults, etc.) But serious discussion being outlawed is downright oppressive and silly. This forum would be 1000% more intelligent, worthwhile, and fun if serious discussion of political and religious magnitude were aloud. A separate board (not that we need any more), perhaps? I don't know.

But what I do know is we are keeping out many intelligent and insightful members by keeping mature topics out of reach. I don't know about you, but I'd rather talk to an Einstein rather than an idiot, and I'd rather talk about politics than what color Mario's eyes are LOL. >_> I think anyone grown up enough should realize that.

Yes, arguments happen on these kinds of issues and that's the way it should be. But just because two people disagree on something does not mean it should be locked. Only when a discussion gets out of hand can it be locked. Locking good discussion is like not pairing up with the class genius for a science project... It's just stupid.

I just thought I'd post here because it'll likely be deleted in a few minutes.

If that happens it will justify what I just said.

Please agree with me here Bulerias. Please.

There's no point this would be deleted, unless someone started flaming someone else.

I guess you won't be continuing to visit here then. You really can't just say you're going to cut out immaturity. Look around at any other forum, you'll always find it. There's no getting rid of it. So I say you may as well get used to it, or simply not go on forums.

And even though talking about religion is not allowed, there is a reason behind it. Yes, I know your topic wasn't looking to put down a religion or anything of that sort, but it is possible that people could make topics like that. So I could see why it should be regulated. The same thing applies to politics.

But I do agree with you that debating should definitely be allowed, but not to an extent where it becomes flames and insults or it's putting down another persons beliefs.

Someone posting a topic putting a religion down is completely different than debating about it.

I'm not saying cut out immaturity. There are some of you here I know will never grow mature; that's not the point. The point is to allow maturity for those of us who are.

I'm sure I'd come here more if there was something actually interesting happening here, intelligent discussion being one of them.

I'm assuming that was directed at the community as a whole and not me. o_0

But yes, I agree with there. As long as a topic is not flaming, or hurting another member, it should be allowed, and debates should definitely be allowed, which they are. I'm just saying that if immaturity is the only reason you won't continue to visit here, some of it has to be dealt with in order to enjoy your time at TBT. It's expected anywhere. And I'm sure we all have had our immature times in our days.

It wasn't directed at you or any one specific person.

Debates here are not allowed, or at least not in my mind. Once a 'debate' here reaches the point of even SLIGHT controversy it is locked.

Ahaha, okay. But yeah, I'm not usually one to get into these "controversial debates" so I don't have the first hand experience you do, but if a topic does turn controversial it should be locked, but not until it does.

What we need is another mod... since the staff is so "busy" there should be a mod to actually do moderation. Right now we've got the staff, who do moderation on the side and work on whatever they say they're working on the rest of the time. Thats fine...

But really, lets allow politics and ****e, I don't care how young members are, they see the news just as anyone else. Separate board if you must, by invite only if you REALLY must.

Controversy is the entire point of a debate. Debate without controversy... it just doesn't make any sense.

Controversy is entirely different from an insult or flame.

By controversy, I meant it in the terms of whether it's insulting someone or not. I thought you meant it in the context of "If the topic gets any bit controversial" as in if it's borderline allowed or not. I agree if you meant the controversy of the topic at hand which is the cause for debate, if that makes any sense at all to you.

Get rid of the Wishing Well or Live Chat board and add a serious discussion board.

Thing is, young members make up a part of the community. Now, stormie and Bul don't want to lose them, of course. So...
