So as you all know, in New Leaf, they removed the observatory in the museum and replaced
it with the second floor, which has this little shop as well as those exhibition rooms.

Let's say Celeste gets again one job in the museum, which one should it be or more like, which
one would you prefer: Her taking care of the observatory (= bring back the observatory again)
or taking care again of the second floor (= bring back the museum shop and the exhibition rooms).

To be really honest: I never cared for those exhibition rooms and was pretty disappointed when
I saw that they removed the observatory. It was one of my favorites places back in Wild World
and City Folk and I really hope they bring it back. And I wouldn't be that sad at all if it would
replace the second floor.

It makes more sense to me for her to have the observatory! It's her passion. We could still have the museum shop but just have it on the first floor and Blathers takes care of it, and exhibition rooms could just be unmanned, although I don't think we need them.

I didn't really use the observatory very much but it would be nice to see Celeste back in her natural habitat!

I really enjoyed the Observatory. It had a really nice aesthetic, and I really enjoyed making constellations. They were a nice way to customize your town's night sky. There really is not a huge reason not to have both, but I would much rather have that if given the choice.

Lets say both. But of course if Celeste was back in the observatory. Then someone of the same species would have to take over the 2nd museum floor shop. Which it could be a nephew or niece just like Lyle with his niece, Lottie. (Now that I think about it, I'd like to know more about Lyle’s family.)

I decided to look for nocturnal birds that could take the shopkeeper role, and came across the Kakapo. It's a flightless, nocturnal parrot endemic to New Zealand. Unfortunately, it is critically endangered with only a few individuals left. I think it could make an interesting addition to the museum staff, and could perhaps even raise awareness for the species.

If they do that, more people would know of it’s existence. And if the npc character is aware that there’s only few of it’s kind then people would know what to do.

I picked the second floor because I like decorating, but it would be cool if Celeste had her own little observatory separate from the museum. Maybe she could share it with a weather NPC or something? Either are fine to me, though.

I'm on the 'why not both?' train.

I don't really recall how either works, as I played Wild World for like a month before losing my DS and it's been years since I frequently played New Leaf, but I could see her usually being stationed on the second floor for the shop and exhibits, but once you've befriended her she'd invite you to the observatory to look at stars or create constellations together? So if you approached her after that in the museum one of the options would be like 'Let's go the observatory!' or somesuch and you could do all the observatory things that way. (I think it'd be interesting to restrict observatory access to just the night when she's naturally awake, but ymmv.)

Maybe what can happen is that during the day Celeste is at the Gift Shop but then at night after 7PM and up until 6AM Celeste goes to her Observatory allowing you to visit her? :o

If we had to pick between them though I'd go with the Observatory.

I like the throwaway space in the second floor exhibits haha

Same. I think they should put that in like a basement floor though if The Roost is gonna get its own building. That way we can have an observatory again :)

i keep thinking about this and i think that multiple floors would be best. i was thinking roost in the basement, second floor like the nl second floor, then an upstairs observatory. that's like a real museum

i never played a game w the observatory, but i'd much rather that than the second floor. i love space, so!!! plus, i always found the personal exhibits kind of bland/boring. a good storage space, though!

I'd rather have Celeste work at the observatory. Making constellations is a cute idea. Making her a shopkeeper isn't nearly as fun, especially once you buy all the items you want on the second floor and/or fill up the display areas.

I also voted for the observatory. I don't really care aaall that much for the museum shop and the exhibition rooms, although I don't think we'd have to miss out on them!
There could easily be a way to have both the observatory and the second floor/shop like some users have already demonstrated/laid out above.

One thing I would want to be truly happy about the observatory returning though is improved constellations. While they were certainly a cool thing to do, I've always thought that they looked kind of... odd. With the lines and all. Real constellations obviously don't look like that. I would imagine/hope that instead of drawing lines from star to star, we'd simply be able to rearrange stars/add stars to the sky to make constellations to have them appear a bit more realistic and "aesthetically pleasing", perhaps with a limit as to how many stars we can add in total so there's no way to make the night sky look all overcrowded and weird.
It would also be cool if the game already came with the zodiac sign constellations in them.
Oh, and I would want for the "constellation design menu" to already show us when the constellation is going to be visible as opposed to doing one and getting that kind of crucial information afterwards like it used to be in WW if I remember correctly.

So yeah, I'd definitely be down for a return of the observatory, especially if they improved it a bit! That was such a cute thing, and I agree with all of you who've said that it fits Celeste so much better. It really does. I miss seeing her all excited about the stars!

I was one of the few who voted for the second floor because I use those exhibits like there's no tomorrow. However, I'd prefer to have both.

The shop seemed unneccessary. The exhibit rooms were great just for displaying rare furniture sets that I was not using in my own home, but otherwise pointless. The observatory was fun and cute. I think they should keep the exhibit rooms, but move them elsewhere, they seem out of place with Celeste. Even her name screams "observatory"

the observatory was one of my favourite parts of wild world! i definitely want it to come back. the gift shop was a cool idea but i think i would've liked it more if they sold memorabilia themed around the museum exhibits (miniature dinosaur replicas, fish tanks, snow globes maybe? that'd be cute) and make the silver tools obtainable via the ways they were in the older games. i didn't care much for the exhibition rooms and only really used them for storage.
