The NL Train Station vs NH Airport

What are your opinions on New Leaf's train station or New Horizons' airport? I just got hit with nostalgia for Porter haah!

Storage
I really miss the locker that connected to your house storage in NL!
But NH's storage system is much better than sorting through tabs and tabs of green leaves lol.
I get that they are trying to add the "locker" functionality back in with Harvey's island but I need it on mystery islands!

Customisation
I loved the NL presets for the exterior but at least NH has some range of base designs... Would love to see more customisation in the future!

i kinda miss porter but the main things i miss about the train station is the locker for storage and the cool customization options - i’m hoping they’ll implement these two features for the airport at some point but that’s probably just wishful thinking ;w;

I like New leaf's train station better mostly because of the accessible storage space and i don't remember porter being nearly as annoying as Orville when it comes to dialogue.

Haha oh nooo I hope they do! They gave us soooo many house customisation options.. surely they will do it for buildings.

It'd be nice if they added just a dedicated ABD to the Dodo Airline building. It's pretty empty and could afford a small public machine so people can get more money without hopping back to their own island. I wouldn't mind a small, separate storage locker being added to it as well; we could stick NMTs and/or trade things in there, and it wouldn't have to be a very big thing to be worthwhile either - just 20 to 30 slots on its own would be nice.

They encouraged me to hoard even more by giving all these colour options. Now I gotta get like SIX of everything!

YES! The inside of the airport is soo empty. I wish you could just get all NMTs sent to the airport and you can redeem from there or ask to withdraw x quantity.

i like the look and feel of the train station more (overall limitations in graphics aside) but i get how the airport plays into this one!! i think the dodos are neat hehe. the one thing i truly miss about ACNL/the station is coming in through it the very first time after meeting rover LOL

I love the Dodo bros ahah but the dialogue is a bit tedious... don't really remember Porter's dialogue.

omg when I saw Rover at may day I nearly cried! Missed that guy!

i agree about the storage. i understand that it works different and i get why, and to be honest i prefer having a super large storage in your house over having a smaller storage like in new leaf but i still wish we could access it, or at least parts of it, on another island. it's annoying to have to go back and forth to do trades. other than that i don't mind that it's an airport instead of a train station, i like the airport as it is for the most part

I miss the train station as our mode of transportation since I prefer train travel in general. But I don't mind the airport at all and of course, it makes sense for this game! I dislike the dialog options with Orville though. I wish there were fewer options. I also wish we got some locker system back or at least let us access the ABD on another person's island.

Yup yup, I agree of course that the airport makes sense in the island theme. I just meant I remember the train station having more features.

Oh yeah, you just reminded me I get airsick lol. Nothing worse than accidentally pressing the wrong option cause you are trying to spam through the dialog... and having to restart the whole thing again.

I did not play NL long so never got attached to the train station I never used it, because I never played online until NH.

I guess I like the taxi in WW more (though apparently Kapp'n always hits on female players, which I did not notice at the time due to me just starting to learn English at the time), it gave a cozy feeling! EDIT: I just now remember there were town gates in WW. Loved those, they gave such a historic feel to the town!

I am generally fine with the airport, I really like how proud Orville and Wilbur are of their work. Always great to see! (Also love the reference to the Wright brothers.)

I mostly miss having a train in my town. I grew up during my middle school years near a train station, so I just like seeing them pass by from time to time. I miss having the locker when I'm actively trading since I tend to carry around a lot in my inventory. I do really like Wilbur and Orville though.

I am so glad Harvey's Cabin works purely off of your catalog. That means I can always buy everything and sell the reorderable things that I don't need to hang onto at the moment.

OMG how did I forget how annoying it was having to tap on each leaf to see what it was?! (And how annoying it was to self-alphabetize it instead of sorting!)

Anyway, I never cared much for Porter. He doesn't really have a personality and his name is basically his job, which makes him feel less developed as a concept to me. I love Orville and Wilbur though. I often ask myself "What Would Dodos Do?" and love the ridiculous dialogue from Wilbur. Wilbur > Kapp'n who he also has replaced.

I miss Katie, who is just so cute it makes me actually want to die, but I love flying back into my island and getting to see it overhead, vs the rather boring train animations from NL.

It was nice being able to access storage from not-your-house. I wish they'd somehow add that function back into the game, whether at the airport or Resident Services. Obviously can't be closet items since those are just for clothes.

Overall I think I like the airport slightly better than the train station though.

Porter was a cool dude. There was no middle man. You talked to him and that was it. With the Dodo twins you got to talk to one to get set up and then the other to get en-route somewhere. They have so much unnecessary dialogue. I just button mash half the time to get to where I want and end up exiting out of the options.

The storage being gone sucks to. It wasn't broken, so why was it fixed? I liked having a little additional storage space where I could keep extra clothes, tools, fireworks and the such. Now you got to lug that all with you and there's only so much space you have.

If it wasn't for the dialogue and how much they tend to drag on everything I would be fine with the Dodo duo. Oh my god, buying a single letter from them is so much torture! Who thought this was a good idea. I really want to know who talked shop and was like 'Remember how letters were sold at Nook's, you bought a bulk, and could write/edit them whenever you wanted? Let's change all that and take a big deuce on it.'

I want to see the face of this evil evil eviiil man....
