I agree with Dustin. You just can't have a modern Zelda (which is why I'm having such a hard time coming up with idea for my Zelda movie). I don't see a completely futuristic Zelda working, either... Hyrule is Hyrule. It isn't Earth. If you had to pick an Earth era to associate it with, it would be in the medieval times. But Hyrule is not Earth, so you can't really compare the two. Hylians may not have advanced technology like we do today, but, as Dustin said, they do have photographs, trains, etc. I think Zelda games are right where they need to be. No modern- or future-Earth Zelda games... No.
No lightsabers or motorcycles? :c
Not in Zelda, no... Perhaps a new franchise similar to Zelda, but not Zelda itself.
Nah, it'd be called the Master Beam. And the motorcycle would be named Epona.
But then you'd need an explanation as to how the Master Sword became the Master Beam, and I don't see any possibility of that ever happening, at least not from Nintendo. Plus, then the game would just be a ripoff of Star Wars and Shadow the Hedgehog. =p
Shadow? Sorry i played one level and got bored of the whole game (the Advert lied >/)
and yeah, i see the point of the Star-wars rip off,
And it could easily be explained as
'As time progressed and Advanced the Goddess advanced the Master sword as well, making it modern with each new invention which could threaten it' or something.....Idk im tired

Beam swords are used many times outside of Star Wars.
Shadow didn't invent motorcycles.

Yeah, but not much. It's generally a Star Wars thing. And I know ShtH isn't the first game to have motorcycles, I know. It's just the only one I could think of. XD (And I actually liked that game, dammit!!)

Which was inspired by Star Wars. Sakurai admitted it.

Modern day, adult resembles Link, archaeologist. Discovers and ancient temple, goes in by himself, finds the Master Sword in the Pedestal of Time, pulls it out, restores the world to what it was like when the original Hero of Time was there.

Modern day, adult resembles ]But Hyrule isn't Earth. It doesn't get modern like us. The Zelda timeline already spans thousands of years, with practically no technological improvement at all.
