Show everyone the creative details of your town!

  • What little creative bits in your town are you proud of?

  • Were they/you inspired from/by something? If so, what?

  • Was there a certain theme(s) you were going for?

  • Do you decorate with flowers/trees and/or arrange them in any special ways?

  • How do you arrange and set up your Public Works Projects?

  • How do the rooms in your house look? Did you go for themes or a different idea altogether?

  • Do you make clothing/outfits? What ones do you take the most pride in for their creativity?

There's no requirement to answer all the questions above or anything - just some general questions about different ways people can be creative if you want to share what you've done with those things.

I've been itching to find something like this on the forums here, so I figured I would start a thread about it! I'd love to see (and hear about) all the fun things that everyone has been doing with their towns and what they're the most proud of in terms of designs, setups, and general themes.

Feel free to post screenshots! Visual always works better for this kind of topic, in my opinion.

I hope this thread will inspire more and more people to do creative things with their towns and share!

I'd say my town's structure. Every 'section' has a different look: a park for west, a residential area for south, a zen/bamboo area for east, and the main area- also the most cultivated- for north.

  • Were they/you inspired from/by something? If so, what?
I wanted to have an archaic theme, but I don't think I've upheld it too well.

  • Was there a certain theme(s) you were going for?
Not really- just whatever looked like it'd fit in the past.

  • Do you decorate with flowers/trees and/or arrange them in any special ways?
Yup- in the northern area of my town, I put an exterior of flowers around my paths.

  • How do you arrange and set up your Public Works Projects?
Throw them wherever I have space/wherever looks good.

  • How do the rooms in your house look? Did you go for themes or a different idea altogether?
My rooms are what I take the most pride in- every room in my mayor's house is given a certain theme: Cabin, Aristocracy (aka Rococo and Zodiac), Wild Plains, Subterranean Hideout and Cloud Factory (based off the magnificet Sonata Arctica song. Though Cloud Factory's just work in progress, I know what I want to do.

ATM I'm setting up a spot in my town that's dedicated to my boyfriend. It'll have a second character's home there named after him, and there'll be patterns of things that he likes on the floor. I'll put a ton of pink and white flowers about, too.

Interesting! I especially like what you described about your room designs. Do you have any pictures? I'm not sure what Subterranean Hideout or Cloud Factory would look like, but I'm curious. : )

The sections of your town sound interesting the way you segregated them, too.

Aww, that's cute.

Afraid not, sorry. However, I can describe them a bit: Subterranean Hideout (so named to avoid confusion- the location of the organisation itself is underground, so I just refer to it as that) was actually based off a location in a book I'm writing. It was basically a challenge of 'what can I do with my fake motherly statues and my tapestry?' I basically have two refurnished Cabin Tables in the centre of the room (patchy wood and dragon suit), with four wooden stools alongside them and fruit/veggie baskets on them. My north wall is covered with tapestries, the room is filled with Oriental weaponry, and three statues are placed there to represent the former leaders of its residing organisation.

I'm not sure how Cloud Factory will work yet. I know it's going to have the sky wall and floor, though, alongside some Aquarius Urns, shaved ice-makers and maybe a mixer.

But thank you!

My town is a huge WIP but I figure I'll answer anyways.

What little creative bits in your town are you proud of?
My town has a lot of ponds (six to be exact) and I'm pretty proud of the ways I've landscaped around them. Two of them are by retail/behind my town hall and I've made it a little forest with trees + tulips + mushrooms. Another is right behind a villagers house and I've landscaped around it to make it her own little pond. Another cluster of two I've placed a archway between them and made a little short cut path through them.

Were they/you inspired from/by something? If so, what?
I get most of my inspiration from tumblr, I feel like if I go to too many dream towns I remember vividly how it was and I end up accidentally copying it. I had a moment the other day where after I had laid some paths/bushes and was super proud of it then I remembered I've seen it laid out the same exact way before.

Was there a certain theme(s) you were going for?
Yes and no. I feel like my town is currently a bit cutesy (my paths have pink/white flowers) and I'm also biased towards pink/white flowers while decorating. I don't want it to be too cute though so I throw some zen pwps and bamboo into some areas.

Do you decorate with flowers/trees and/or arrange them in any special ways?
I like adding stumps into my rows of flowers/bushes sometimes to break up the monotony but not really. I like alternating two colors and don't venture out besides that.

How do you arrange and set up your Public Works Projects?
Like I said before, I have a LOT of ponds and I don't have a lot of room to work with most of the time. I like placing flowers/trees and whatnot first before I decide if I want a pwp to

How do the rooms in your house look? Did you go for themes or a different idea altogether?
My main house is a work in progress, the first room when you walk in is zen/harmoniously themed. I put a lot of asian inspired items in there. The room to the right is a bathroom/spa, then the downstairs basement is an arcade. The other rooms aren't done, and I'm using my upstairs bedroom as storage for all my balloons also when I streetpass with people they have one room with every balloon in it they can order.
My character that carries all my paths - her house is 100% storage. I have un-orderable sets and items shoved into her house for the time being. Once I finish my main house I'll work on selling most of it. My third character's house is going to be a campsite though I'm not done with that either.

Do you make clothing/outfits? What ones do you take the most pride in for their creativity?
The only designs I made were simple little t-shirts with lace for my villagers to wear besides the ugly starter designs. I'm not very creative when it comes to designing so I let other people do that work for me.
