No, you don't turn off in the saving when duping. Here's how you dupe:

(1) Go to your Friend's Town with the items to dupe with inhand.

(2) Drop the items. (DO NOT SAVE)

(3) Go to Copper and say,"I want to go home!"

(4) While the game is preparing for your departure, hit the home button on your Wii Mote non-stop!

(5) When Copper is done preparing for your departure, The Wii Home Menu screen will show up.

(6) Press "RESET" in the Wii Home Menu

(7) Your done duping for the first time, keep doing the duping process til contentment!
