The Mayor's Attitude

So, I recently started closely looking at all the dialogue and I just saw the mayor (us) can be a bit of a jerk sometimes. Like, if someone's trying to sell me something, I usually say stuff like, "No way!" when all I really want to do it politely decline ;-; Maybe not enough to be mean, but I find it kind of... sad (?)

yeah, that's how I feel with some responses you can give... ;v;
but I've gotten over feeling bad for it since it's not like they have a very negative response in return, if at all.

I know! It's terrible when you want to let a villager go and the mayors dialogue option is "good riddance!" like excuse me?! Or when they offer a sufficient amount of bells for an item and the only dialogue option to accept is really rude like "hmmm that's pretty low... But alright" and the villager always feels bad, like nooo, just give them the item T___T

I love it when my villagers try to sell me their stuff and I say "Yuck!" back to them xD

I thought I was the only one feeling bad about some of those dialogues! My worst one is when they are moving out and I seem all happy about it when in reality I'm kind of sad but still want to wish them good luck on their adventures

Completely agree. When I was little playing ACWW I felt this even more. Especially when I was so innocent, I thought I was hurting the villagers haha

I feel the same way! I want to say a nice goodbye to my villagers, not good riddance! Sheesh! (Unless Alfonso decides to move. Now that's different XD). It's pretty bad in Wild World too, like once someone asked me what I thought of Blathers and the answers were "Who?" Or "'I don't". Like what? I like Blathers! Why does AC have to make us all rude and sassy?

The response that bugs the hell out of me when a villager pings you to move out is "who are you again." Not sure what the programmers were thinking with some of these rude replies.

When we get rid of the villager we sometimes sound so happy but I'm sad irl (sometimes. freaking canberra good riddance) if its what the villager wants.

I noticed this too. Especially when I'm moving out a villager and actually like them, but the only reply I can give is something mean.

Same when I don't want to give/sell items.

Yeah! Also when they give you something for free and you reply something along the lines of "Uh... Sure".
