I remember reading about or hearing from someone (wow, real specific Xiphos *eyeroll*), that you should have the first two lines of a letter filled at the least for it to count towards friendship, and the letter badge. So I always just send my villagers letters with "wwwwwwwww" throughout the entire two lines, as w's are quicker than other letters because they take up more space. Like, imagine using l's. *shivers* No way Jos?.
So yeah, I think there's probably actually a minimum character # count or something, but this is the rule I go by and I've gotten many letter badges in the past by doing it, as well as presents from villagers and increased friendship.
Hope this helps!
I write all my villagers lots of w's and m's in my letters, except for Croque. I tend to be a bit flirty in my letters to him... <3
Am I the only one who actually writes heartfelt and serious letters to my animals? Like really, I actually take the time to make puns and send them thoughtful gifts and have a little fun with it.
Like I could understand if you're spamming for the letter badge but why not have some fun with it? Be creative!
As for the length, I don't know if it really counts. I do know, however, that the game picks up on certain phrases, which can affect an animal's response (Like if they see "sad" in the letter it'll usually be understood). But it's a very primitive understanding and your animals won't really understand slang or context much. But still, they do somewhat "get it"
I'm best friends with most of my villagers because I tend to always do their favors and I send letters and gifts now and then. Nothing crazy or anything. I just play the game and value their existence, and they love me accordingly.
I usually write down the dreams I have had the nignt before in my letters.
