"In honor of the 25th anniversary, Nintendo offers The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition. Available for download on through the DSi Shop or eShop, this version of the classic multiplayer Zelda adventure celebrates the franchise with additional new areas to play and a new single player option to enjoy.
Fans of the original game or newcomers alike can expect classic 2D multiplayer adventure as two to four players wirelessly connect and work together to rescue Princess Zelda after Link splits into four with the help of the Four Sword. You and up to three of your friends will each don a different colored tunic as you all take on the role of Link. Ensure you work together as you discover and play across four themed areas, solve numerous puzzles and defeat bosses along the way. Make sure you collect more Rupees than your friends if you want to be the overall winner after completing one of the themed areas.

However, unlike the original Game Boy Advance version, it is now possible to play the game in a brand new way as a single player. When you go solo you won't be totally alone though as an additional Link will appear beside the one you control to help you along during your adventure. What's more, there are 2 exclusive new areas to play each containing 3 new levels to complete which have been specifically made for this edition of the game. By completing the new areas, each Link will be able to unlock additional special skills. Fans of the franchise will be familiar with the Hurricane Spin and Master Sword and both return to help you on your quest"

I just downloaded it, discuss

I am not understanding this game, but the music keeps me entertained.

It's available today? Awesome. I'll be getting it. Never could play the original, although I own it, because I don't know anyone with a cartridge. Sucks that this won't have wi-fi, though.

That's what I didn't know either, I only found out because I saw a thread on another site.

Why does all of this stuff come out on days, I just so happen not to have my 3DS...

why was there no update via nintendo blue light of blinky updating 3ds information?

jeez, nintendo, if you're gonna have a led for one thing alone, you might as well use it, yeah?

I was disappointed by the fact that there wasn't online.
How could you play a cooperative game like this online without any form of communication between players, anyway? Without voice chat or anything, online Four Swords would be practically unplayable. Granted, if they wanted to include online they could have added voice chat or something (though I doubt they'd be able to put voice chat in a DSiWare game), but you gotta remember that this game is being given away for free. It's awesome enough that we're even getting it in the first place. I'm so glad they rereleased Four Swords like this, because so many people missed out on it back on the GBA because of how ridiculously difficult it was to actually be able to play it. And they even added a single player mode this time around, so everyone can play it, even if they don't have any friends with a DSi or 3DS.

Very easily. Ever heard of Demon's Souls? It's an Action-Adventure-RPG just like Zelda. In it's online interactions, you have no way to contact the person you're playing it, but you both have a common goal: Get to the end of the level and beat the boss. It works very well. In fact Demon's Souls has the best online of any console game out there. Four Swords also has an option to make an icon appear on-screen telling your companions to come to you. Playing with randoms or friends, online was a feature that a game like FS could really use. Now if I want to play with another, they have to have a 3DS. No-one I know in real life owns one or even wants one. People like me are a group of people that Nintendo has been alienating for years.

And will probably continue to alienate with these games. Besides, look at Spiral Knights (Sega, mind you, Tye) is completely online, and you can opt out of not even talking to anyone at all and you can still play it through with multiple people. There's no justification for not putting wi-fi in a game that can very-well utilize wi-fi. It'd be like a CoD without online multiplayer.

Plus if this game had online, it'd be like playing portal 2 online without a mic. It just don't work.

Like the 'look here' markers in Portal 2 for co-op. Except in this it could be, stand here, pull this, pick this up... or they could have added chat. Ever played Phantasy Star 0?

Wellanywaysguys, I downloaded this and.... frankly, good thing it was free cuz I don't like it.

They don't have to have a 3DS. A DSi or DSi XL works, too. And I'm not saying that the game wouldn't have been better with online. Of course it would have (and when I say that I mean the game as a whole would be better, not that the online multiplayer would be better than the local multiplayer). But look at what this game is. It's an updated rerelease of a multiplayer mode from a GBA game that's being given away for free as DSiWare. Do you really expect there to be online multiplayer? Maybe if it was a brand new Four Swords game, sure.

No justification? How about it's freaking FREE?

in my opinion, as i said with star fox 64, nintendo has to step up their online game a lot. this game, as is the same with star fox 64, could have easily been made to have a wifi multiplayer mode.

some solutions to "it wouldn't work"

touch screen is essentially wasted on a map, said map could have been turned into a ping-creation tool, allowing a marker to be added to everyone's maps, or onto the top screen's game. (might have needed some work, due to having to create a few marker sprites + implementation, but easily doable)

microphone set to disabled by default for strangers/non wifi codes (if random/matchmaking was implemented at all) and available for friend code games, or randoms (or mutable, for when people are being dicks)

nothing, as it's not all that important to have any kind of communication. you need to move a few boulders together, hit your color baddie, pick somebody up, it isn't too hard.. though i guess it could be, sometimes.

i dunno. it's free, yeah, but if they're going to remake it, they might as well remake it well. it isn't four swords if you have to play two swords alone..

100% agree with all of this
