The Impossible Gold Gardening Badge?

I have a question about the gold gardening badge.. According to Wiki and Thonky, if you plant 500 flowers, trees and or bushes you will get the gold gardening badge. I have planted way more than that yet Phineas refuses to visit me. Isabell says Pave would sprawl in a drunken stupor in joy in my town and I literally have no space to plant anything more. There are no paths, just flowers, flowers and more flowers. I have gone to the island way too many times just to bring back flowers. In addition, I had a horrible tt accident and I killed off every single flower (not the gold roses) and made Leif cry outside my front door. But, I replanted all over again. I have beautiful town and there's no garbage... I am very confused. What am I doing wrong?

Phineas only visits on clear days, maybe that's why? I know it's not impossible though, since my friend has it...weird.

Lol. I wish. I've had plenty of clear days.. I've gotten other badges while waiting for the gardening one. I don't include any flowers that I get from other players either. I have a friend with the gold too and he has hardly any plants (lmao. well, compared to me)

I think the flowers have to be from seed bags. I got the badge but I plant trees every day. Al my fruit trees are perfect apples so I am planting a few a day.

I gold the gold badge and didn't buy or plant a single seedbag. Don't waste your bells. I planted lots of trees and flowers bought from other towns. I planted bushes as well. Not a single seedbag was purchased

Lol. Out of desperation, I had started buying the seed bags and planting them. I have to retail flowers at this point before I can even find room to plant any new ones. I can't even think about the gold island medal badge.

Remember that wiki sites are unreliable sources for information.

Only flowers planted from seed bags (buy each day from Main Street or find in the Lost & Found) and trees planted from saplings (buy each day from Main Street) "count" toward the Gardening badge.

You don't actually have to plant anything. The badge is actually awarded for buying stuff from Leif. Trees, shrubs or seedbags. I discovered this by accident, I was buying plants in my 2nd town for my main town, and I never planted ANYTHING. The day Phineas showed up and gave me the badge (right after a trip to main street to buy more shrubs) I was really confused!

I don't think fertilizer counts towards the gardening badge . It counts towards the gold shovel.

I re-landscaped my town and got the badge without even trying. It was a lot of trees, bamboo, bushes, flowers, but mostly duped flowers, not seed bags. Also, I have perfect town and have for a while now.
