I actually learned a few days ago that being anemic can make you feel cold all the time, I've dealt w it off and on for years but I somehow didn't know that before

TIL that Montreal is the second-biggest city in Canada, with only Toronto being bigger. I'm kinda surprised I didn't know this until now, considering I used to live there (and have visited many, many times). I figured Ottawa would be higher on the list, but apparently not.

I always kinda avoided drinking water on an empty stomach but today I had to take my meds and all I had was water so I re-learned the hard way that doing that isn't a good idea.
and I guess the reason why is because when you drink something like juice or soda it has sugars in it that can give you energy, so it's a bit more filling, whereas water has nothing in it to give you energy. so yeah drinking water along w no energy is a no-go lol

I watched a YouTube video about snacks and drinks and saw that Sierra Mist has been discontinued almost two months ago and replaced with the new name Starry.
I didn't know about that until now! I enjoyed Sierra Mist when I was a kid and early teen.

Old post, haven't been here for a bit. There's always one AI that is supposed to be the challenger. If for some reason they lag behind the other cpu or get hit by something the other racers will slow up or stop until they get ahead. They'll also get item favoritism. So if you ever wonder why they're getting all the good items and you are getting junk, that is why. I saw them get a bullet bill in 2nd place.

It was yesterday, but I learned how to grow oyster mushrooms. It's super simple. So, we decided we are gonna try it this year.
I also learned about regular earthworms vs red wiggler worms. Earthworms are deeper in the ground and eat dirt and dryer things. Red wigglers are stronger and have yellow butts. They are a deeper color and eat things like soggy leaves and poo. They live near the surface and break down stuff faster. Red wigglers are used for fishing bait since they wiggle more.

I learned that plastic numbers 1-5 are pretty much food safe from what I could tell looking around online. Some places say that 3 isn't but others say 3 is. However this chart below has some surprising descriptions, such as 7s are used in baby bottles and 5 gallon water jugs.
But something that seems consistent is that 2, 4, 5 are the safest for food.
Get a plastic bucket (food grade is best) with a lid poke 3/4" holes on the sides of the bucket. Boil either straw or wood chips and let them cool. (Kills germs so there's room for the mushrooms to grow) Put in bucket in layers of spawn grain and material. Put lid on. It should start budding in about two weeks or so. Spray with distilled water on the holes twice a a day or the mushrooms if they poke through. Especially if they are small, you want to make sure they don't dry out. Harvest right before the caps curl upwards but cutting the whole chunk off at the hole.

So, if you scramble eggs in a non stick skillet with no oil or butter, dehydrate the pieces, blend them up into a powder, sieve it, you can put them in a glass jar for two years. Just add water when you want to use it. 2 tbsp of Dried Whole Egg Powder with 2 ½ tbsp water to make 1 large egg
That sounds pretty cool. I like doing stuff like that. I'm always expanding my gardens with new things like a grape vineyard or an asparagus row I did last year. So I'd definitely try this out. Thanks for the information!
You can use wood chips too, but I think straw is easier.
If you use mushroom plugs in a log, it will take a year or two before you see anything. idk how difficult it would be to do it that way. I don't think I would want to wait that long either.
I actually ordered my mushroom grain spawn yesterday, it will be here in about 3 weeks or so. I am so excited to try it myself and see how long I can keep it going. I saw some places were selling out of it already. But the cheapest place I found (for usa) was North Spore and you get 6 pounds. So we are going to split it between two 5 gal buckets.
Very nice! Well good luck with your new project. I don't know much about mushroom growing, but I know that with asparagus it takes 2 years before you can even take from the plants. You really should wait until the third year, but a lot of people want to take from their stalks right away. Which ends up messing with their maturity and makes them prone to diseases.
I learned that it's bad to trim trees too much because the trees release moisture that burns in the sun and causes a lot of issues, usually resulting in the tree being more susceptible to fungus and other diseases that will eventually kill it.
I've never liked trimming trees except for the bare minimum necessary if it's encroaching on something and could be a hazard, but my company likes to trim the living hell out of them which sucks. So it was nice to hear a good reason not to do it from the landscaper.

This is random, but I've recently started braiding my hair (in pigtails, like my AC rep). I really want to be able to braid my hair in one plait down my back, but something about it just evades me every time -- it's hard to hold the strands of hair from that angle and it literally makes my arms hurt, lmao.
During a recent visit home, my mom gave me some advice as she watched me struggle, and while I wasn't able to incorporate it into making a big braid, it has seriously upped my pigtail braid game. Now I can start them much higher up on my head. I've been staring at people for months wondering how they did it, and now I know. I feel like I've been let in on a huge secret.
