• Good evening, everyone! We have an egg hunt announcement! An additional clue for egg #21 will be posted Monday at 6 PM EDT if it hasn't been found by then. The egg hunt will also be extended until Tuesday morning at 10 AM EDT.

The Hunger Games

It's improper to see a movie without reading the book. It's also harder to understand and will probably make the movie seem worse than it is. At least you're giving it a try, though. Unlike Bidoof!

Not really because film adaptations are meant to be seen by people who have never read the book. The trick is making a good movie for people who have read it and also for people who have not.

My short review:

The book was better, no contest. The movie was great, but it lacked the raw emotion and perspective of Suzanne Collins' writing. They left out quite a bit (the ending wasn't anywhere near as good as the book), but the changes were understandable. Jennifer Lawrence was great, and I was pleasantly surprised by Josh Hutcherson's performance. I wasn't really feeling Woody Harrelson or Liam Hemsworth, but they did an adequate job.

The violence was pretty mild, but seeing teens murder each other did affect me more than I thought it would. Especially when the stronger kids are laughing as they slaughter the weaker kids. Seeing the violence on screen, as opposed to reading it, was intense.

All in all, I'd recommend reading the books first. The movie is great as an adaptation of the novel, but not so good as a stand alone film. Oh, and if you go, be sure to bring tissues. There were at least three parts I choked up at, and I never cry during movies.

I'm not surprised about it lacking emotion. Were there any parts that were left out and was the fighting long enough? Those are my main concerns.

I read all of the books and is I don't see the movie in the next two days I will jump out the nearest window...

If you do, can you have money in your pockets and fall near me? That way your death will allow another fortunate soul admittance to the movie...

Just went and saw it.
I didn't think they would actually show brutal death of kids on screen. Movie's got balls. I like it.

Sounds epic. I'm trying to go see it this weekend, but I don't have any definite plans.

I personally didn't like the hunger games book :/ it was ok, and was well written, but I just didn't find it very entertaining...

I loved the books and I saw the midnight premiere with my friend. I thought it was awesome and she did that night. In the morning she said it sucked because the changed a few things. They can't make it perfect! Ugggggg! but it was still awesome for me.

Just got back from seeing it a second time and it was so much better watching it back again. Jennifer Lawrence's performance gave me chills in at least three different parts both times. She's a great actress.

Honestly I'm not that much of a huge fan of the books. But I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to books in general.

But I'm going to see the movie soon so we'll see what happens.

Honestly I enjoyed the book more, but that's a give in since you really get to look into the characters.
The movie was pretty good, they obviously can't capture every single detail.
Like the mockingjay pin :(

Saw the movie on Sunday. It was pretty awesome. Can't wait to see the sequel.

Review that I've read (Sadly, I haven't seen it yet. I'm seeing it this weekend.) have said that the costumes were disappointing. The one that was supposed to make her "Katniss, the girl on fire" was said to be lame. Agree/disagree?

^Yeah, but it doesn't really take away from the movie. I assume they'll have a bigger budget for the next movie.

It wasn't lame.. But I've never read the book. Maybe it seems lame compared to how they described it in the book. But without reading it, it looked pretty cool.
