The Great King/Salmon Hunt

I've seen a lot of confusion about how to catch these things, so I just wanted to share my little experience for those who might still be uncertain of how and where to catch them.

So for the first half of September they appear at the second waterfall, the one that pours into the ocean, and as you can see by this screenshot, my town has a RIDICULOUSLY inconvenient placement for this.

They appear directly underneath the waterfall, so it's difficult to see if your town is arranged like mine.

I saw one just barely poking out and tried to get it to notice the line, but of course no good. So I moved up the hill and Cookie chose the worst time to ping and invite me to her house.

I placed myself on the edge of the cliff seen in the above photo, threw my bobber onto the waterfall and let it drop down and suddenly I hear the "plop" sound of a fish grabbing it.

You can just barely see it poking out to the right of the purple roses.

And sure enough...

Now all I need is the King Salmon, which I believe works the same way, only with a larger shadow, and my fish encyclopedia is done!

I had a hard time catching them in my main town.

It was so much easier in my second town cuz I have south facing waterfall.. It's easier to see the fish shadow under the waterfall that way >.<

I'm trying to find the salmon too saw one earlier but it got away, was so gutted too, tried again and ended up catching a different fish that wasn't a salmon

Yeah, I got both of them today!

I have an east-facing waterfall, but it's crooked, so very easy to sea and catch the fish in. If someone really has trouble to catch them, shoot me a PM and you can come over =) I've caught like 10 salmon and 3 king salmon already, so they are here quite frequently.

Wow, thanks for the tip! I was unaware of the fact that they appear under the waterfall. For some reason I though they were in the river. Now I know! Thanks!

So if you look at the pics in the first post of this thread, you'll notice a small strip of land off in the distance in front of a wall. So I says to myself "Why don't I just try fishing from over there?" So I grabbed my wetsuit and headed over there. When there was nothing available I paced around in a circle on the sand, then cast my line and heard the pecking of a completely unseen salmon nibbling the line.

Another salmon appeared, caught it, released both, paced around the island some more and then...

I didn't even spend five minutes on that tiny strip of land. Apparently I was waaaay over-complicating things.
