So recently I've decided to read the novel "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman. I just finished chapter 4 and it's pretty good so far. I have to read to chapter 10 this weekend so I really can't wait to continue reading.

My message is pick this novel up! It's awesome and isn't there a movie and a Wii game called The Golden Compass?

Well there is a movie either recently out or coming out based off the book yes, and a game based off the movie based off the book would be highly probable, anyway I may look into it.

His Dark Materials is one of the best series I've ever read... the top being the Jurassic Park series by Michael Crichton.

Wait. Wait...wait... What the *CEN-3.0-SORD* are you people talking about?

You aren't going to read it due to "Religious Reasons"? Are you kidding me?

What? Are you 'afraid' of religion or something? Just so you know almost every (I would go as far to say as every) writing has religious influence, whether it be positive or negative.

Even positive prejudice is still prejudice.

Yeah, it's like saying you don't read Harry Potter because it goes against religion... which it doesn't.

It's a book, there's a LOT out in the world that go against some religions. Deal with it.

not afraid of religion, it's just offending. I hear that in the movie they basically kill God. (literally) Not really my kind of movie xD

Who decides what God is and isn't?

Ok, wow! That sounds pretty offending to my religion too...

Yes they kill God, but God in the movie really isn't the creator of everything, so not the God as known by most.

They do sort of kill a god, but it's not really the (Christian) God. Within one of the book's parallel universes it is, but it's not.

Just read it. It's possible to be both religious and open-minded. Be so.

Then again, I'm an agnostic atheist, so I don't find it in the least offensive.

I won't be seeing the movie unless it is Oscar worthy. If it isn't than it would just be feeding off of LOTR. There are a lot of movies I want to see right now (Hitman, Beowulf, etc.)

I'm predicting the movie to be good since the book is good.

That's not what happened to the LOTR franchise IMO.

But those movies were good.....

Movies just always leave a to of things out that were in the book, books are normally longer. But a movie can still be good on its own if you don't go thinking of all that was cut out.
