You know one of those days where you reset your town, and then regret forever more? Yeah. I am soo regretting it right now. The only reason I reset my town is because I couldn't stand looking at my Town Tree's history (obvious signs of time traveling, unlocking shops days within each other when it's impossible to do so). Now that I got this new map, I come across nothing but trouble upon trouble, and it isn't a pretty one because I wanted to stay optimistic and stuff.

1. Rocks. There are 8 of them, and most are in horrendous places. My pathways have to work around them for the most part. And, I chose the worse place possible to place my mayor's house (didn't think it would be much of a problem back then). Oh well, I could always work around it somehow, right?
2. I miss my Colton, Genji, Daisy, and Beardo, but that's okay, at least the new town make it up with Papi, Fang, and...
3. I wished for Genji for my birthday, but Julian came by instead. His house plotted on a pathway, but I thought hey, maybe I could just rearrange the pathway, and all is well, you know? Again?
4. I just got my mayor's permit, and it turns out that not only Fang is in the way of me making a bridge where I like to, Julian is also in the way as well. Actually, most of my villagers have their houses plotted near/next to the river. I want my shortcut bridges, gosh dang it, and I ain't going to run through my grass to speed things up...

Why game? Why must you do this to me? My previous map was like heaven, I tell you, heaven! I don't want to reset my town again, because it's just frowned upon, you know? And like some people, you may not get out of the reset habit once you start it. Of course, who needs a pretty town anyway... But what's the point to this game if you minus one of the biggest features from it? (customization and sharing town with others)? OTL

Aww, it really sucks to hear that! :c Honestly, I don't think the tree history is really worth resetting over if you had awesome villagers and a great town map. owo;; My tree history is all over the place, too, but it's not like I ever look at it after I got my 100 visits. It's a minor detail. And if you don't like your current town, I say be all means, reset. It's still new and you haven't invested a lot in it so it doesn't hurt to reset.

I don't think you'd be losing too much if you reset again (besides Fang and Julian being valuable). You've already lost a good town, I wouldn't settle for something I thought sucked.

The rocks (my town has 7) & mayors house you can't fix, but villagers come and go, and it doesn't seem like you have really any dreamies. The bridge/path problem will fix itself over time c:

Hope you work it out.

I dunno... large amounts of rocks would be a real pain in the butt, but at the same time I think it'd be nice to see what can be done creatively with a less common/ideal layout. Any town can be pretty with a bit of work, and no town starts off perfect.

If you hate your town and reset, what are the chances that you'll start hating the next map as well?

honestly the idea of resetting isn't an issue of your town no longer feeling "genuine" to me because there are some very good reasons to do it regardless of it being "frowned upon" but i do think you'll get stuck in a cycle of not thinking your town is ever good enough if you keep doing it. it's ultimately up to you but if you keep doing it idk if you'll be able to shake the feeling and it'll just keep happening.

You sit on the ledge around your town tree. It isn't stupid, I discovered it totally by accident a month or two into the game. c:
Ah thankyou. I've done that before but nothing seems to happen.. Maybe I didn't sit long enough.

But if you've already lost your perfect town, why stick with one you hate?
Might as well reset more and find one you like so you can grow to love it again.

@ mochichou: Having only played with one map so far, not including this new one, I didn't expect it to be so different/difficult (while doing the 365 challenge with no resets/time-travel). So you're right, I should've placed more value on the map/villagers than the Town Map's history instead. I regret it oh so much, lol.

@ ceribells: Yeah, I won't be losing much if I reset again, since it's not even 10 days old to begin with. My brother has Julian in his town anyway, but I feel very bad to be losing a couple more villagers I've become attached to. Well, it's not like I won't love whoever comes into my new town anyway. -sigh- I am so indecisive at times. xD

I just went along with the first map I ever got. I didn't particularly care about rocks or the placing of my villager's houses. I always felt I could of worked something out. But I understand how frustrated you feel when things don't go your way.
However I am a lazy bum. I would avoid the trouble with resetting and just work with what I have. I feel accomplished when I make imperfections look beautiful. But no worries (those are just my opinions)!
I also have a list of stuff that made me feel like resetting at some point of my AC:NL adventure:
1) Diana's house is at the ideal place for a bridge
2) Bam destroyed many purple and gold roses
3) Cranston and Dora's house blocking my final bridge construction
4) Destroying 2 million worth of public works projects to build my final bridge
5) Rocco moved into a corner (hard for paths to reach)
6) Zell moved into a corner
7) Sprinkle moved into a corner
8) Bruce moved into a corner
9) I accidentally TTed Flora out
10) Fauna destroyed a path
11) Beau destroyed part of my orchard
12) Rodney is too ugly
13) Peewee is too ugly
14) I can't stand Marshal (he moved in from my friend's town)
15) My town, island, main street shares an ugly square patterned grass
16) My beaches aren't connected
17) I have cherries, I want peaches
19) There are 2 rocks in my path ways
... and the list goes on and on...

@ jolokia: The thing I look for in a town is convenience/simplicity for the most part. Aesthethics can be worked into/around later. My chances of hating the new layout is probably low, since I know what I'm looking out for this time around.

@ nacy: I'm pretty sure I can shake off the feeling of losing something/someone as I reset, since I can always get it back later (villagers for the most part), or I'll start liking more villagers out there (dreamies are a far future type of goal). I think the biggest issue for me though, is the fact that I try to work around said problems so many time, the problem either still persists in the game, bites back because of other factors, or, I just can't work around it at all.

@ Lion-Lhasa: Thanks. I will be resetting my town today so I can start working with something much more lenient/problem-solvable. xD

@ TeeTee: Gosh, that's a lot of brain melting frustrations you have there. The biggest issue is probably the fact that cycling villagers out and have them back in takes too much time.

I've never reset my New Leaf game, but I did reset my City Folk and Wild World games quite a lot. I never really felt bad about doing it though. Maybe because there was less to lose in the older games?

Just look at it this way, you know what you're doing now so go ahead and restart the game again, get a good map that you really like, and make this town better than your last one!
