The Flight of the Beetles...

Ever since I stated my new town I have had AWFUL beetle farming luck. Beetles will only appear on two of my palm trees and when they do it's a very rare occasion I'm getting many other insects like Wraf Roaches and Lantern Flies but hardly any beetles, could anyone help me?

Try removing all of the regular trees and flowers.

Sometimes giant stags and rainbow stags will appear on the regular trees though.
They're worth a lot if I remember correctly.

Oh also get rid of the shells too and what time do you usually go to the island at for beetle farming? It may be that too.

My advice is go after 7, dig up everything on the green grass (Trees, flowers, bushes) and get rid of all the shells. Dig a hole in front of each palm tree (so you don't get too close to it). Then, when you see one, press and hold A. When the beetle is moving, it means it's thinking of taking off, so freeze but don't let go of the A button. When it is still again, keep moving. When you are close enough to catch it, swing. I used to have awful luck but I've managed to improve, so the beetles mostly don't fly away
