Goliath Beetle

I’m pretty sure the Goliath beetle is available currently in the northern hemisphere. But I can’t seem to catch one…

I’ve been trying to hunt one for the past three nights and can’t seem to have any luck on them. I have caught over 300 bugs already. I’ve caught all the rare beetles and scorpions, but not the Goliath beetle.

I’ve cleared out the bamboo island using the NMT ticket as it is easier to farm, where I:
- Chopped up all the bamboo and dug them out
- Plucked all the flowers
- Broke the stones
- Scared away the hermit crabs
- Scare away all the other bugs that aren’t high bells
- Made sure to go to the island at 11PM

Am I missing anything to catch it? I thought they spawn on palm trees…? Or is my RNG bad?

UPDATE: After THREE gruelling days, I finally caught the little bugger. I caught so many of the golden, giant, giraffe beetles and scorpions. I only somehow managed to only find ONE Goliath beetle during my three days, BUT TIS DONE NOW AND I CAN STOP HUNTING!

Turns out that I had ridiculously bad RNG for the Goliath beetle, despite what some other members saying it being common OTL

In the nicest way possible...your RNG has to be terrible, because the Goliath Beetle is the most common of the palm tree beetles.

Yah, that is a bit odd Goliath Beetles are generally the most common of the rare beetles (hence why they're the cheapest among them). I mean, you're doing everything right. Just make sure you're not accidentally missing them or mistaking them for other beetles (it'd be hard, since they're a pretty distinctive looking bug, but I've definitely made sillier mistakes, lol) And make sure you time is accurate- according to Nookipedia, they're active from 5 PM - 8 AM. Which is... apparently the same as other rare beetles, so I guess that's not that helpful, lol. If you're not opposed to TTing, it may help to go back to June- there are fewer palm tree beetles out that time of year, so that should increase chances!

I think everyone has a rare beetle that gives them a hard time. For most it’s the golden stag, for me it was the giraffe stag, for you it appears to be the Goliath beetle. Just keep trying! It took me 3-4 days of farming mystery islands to find my last beetle.

Giraffe Stag is the rare one for me as well.

ive noticed that when your island has a large number of bugs on it, other bugs wont spawn up sooo the best bet to get the bug that you need is to basically run around clearing out all the other bugs so theres 'room' enough for the goliath to spawn. ive used that method to get fish and bugs that ive needed, except for the super rare ones.

Yup! This was what I was doing once I cleared the area of all the flowers, stones, and trees (including the stumps). After which, I was just running around my island scaring EVERYTHING away that wasn’t beetles of high value.
