The Dream Suite is the one feature I'm glad was delayed...

EDIT; Just kidding, you CAN'T randomly dream. I'm incredibly disappointed.

So, to get this out of the way, I'm not focusing on the content model of NH vs past games. I don't agree with it, but I also don't need to convince you to agree with me here today.

I remember in NL that random dreaming was pretty mind-numbing. It was a ton of towns that were from when people first accessed the Dream Suite, creating a chain of towns that were undeveloped and nearly identical. To seek out unique towns you had to go and search for dream codes that people posted.

I'm hoping that the late arrival of this feature means two things: 1. People that have lost interest in the game won't be crowding the service with essentially identical towns, and 2. The towns that are uploaded will have had quite a bit of time for people to shape and make unique. Between these two things, random dreaming has the chance to actually be exciting.

There's another argument to be made that everyone's island will look the same because of the lack of furniture variety, which I agree is an unfortunate problem. I'm still excited and hoping this will change as more content gets added.

I think that because NH allows for terraforming + outdoor furniture, islands won’t look identical because the early game ones.

I think random dreaming still be exciting, but there’s definitely going to lots of unfinished islands and that’s okay.

I’m also hoping for a feature where maybe the people who visit your island can write a message or something on your bulletin but that’s wishful thinking tbh

I agree that there will definitely still be more variety than NL because we have more tools.

In NL, I think we got mini-reviews after we visited islands, and then Luna would tell us if a visitor liked it. I also doubt it'll be on the bulletin board,, but there may be some form of interaction or feedback.

I do love they waited too, we've had enough time to make something more-less decent!

That's a positive way to look at it anyway haha. I remember in NL having to do exactly what you mentioned because if you flew to a random island, it would more often than not be empty like mine was bahahaha.

I think the lack of furniture variety and prevalence of furniture/terraforming trends will lead to a lot of islands looking similar. My guess is that amongst the islands that are very developed, a number of trend patterns will be witnessed throughout - waterfall islands, pink/white, islands with cafés, etc., but I'm excited to see if these trends will vary by country!

It's also important to remember that not everyone enjoys building up their towns in Animal Crossing. Some people prefer fishing and catching bugs, other people making Bells, and etc. - so I think there will still be a number of 'undeveloped'/'unshaped' towns. Even people with interest in the game aren't necessarily huge decorators. I'm one of them!

I’m excited for the dream suite either way! I do hope that we won’t just dream of any random, completely untouched island though

Maybe they could auto-ban bad words :(
I suppose, but there's always ways around that, like spacing letters out or replacing some letters with numbers.
At the very least they should allow for a simple reaction system (Thumbs-Up, Smile, Heart, etc.), or maybe even have a list of words/phrases you can choose from. It was always a bit unsatisfactory knowing how many people visited your town in NL, but not knowing if they enjoyed it or not lol

I'm anticipating zen islands and cottagecore islands. It's highly unlikely, but it will be cool if we can take items with us from the dreams.

I feel like we couldn't give out whatever because people would give out rare items. But it would be cool if they were something we could take with us like a dream-exclusive item or something?

Dream furniture? That would be so cool!

So far in this thread, no one has talked about how we don’t need to place down a building for the dream suite! It’s a huge positive for those worried about having to change the layout of their island. You just lay down on a bed and bam! You get the ability to visit someone’s dream island. I’m curious if the beds in our villager’s homes work as well. They’d probably say something along the lines like “why are they sleeping on my bed?” lol.

I suspect that the majority of random islands will still be rather empty or poorly developed. But to me, finding the horrible looking dreams made by four year olds was about as much fun as finding perfect fairyville #9001. It had a certain charm to it seeing questionable patterns and design choices everywhere and I think it will only be better now that we can have furniture outside...

I've already gotten a few looks from villagers when I used their beds. They don't say anything, but that simple glance just screams 'dude, really?' to me ^^

i agree with you a bit - new leaf was filled with so many identical dream towns which i think is the reason aika village was so popular - not just because the story was good but because it was unique.

granted, a lot of the dream islands that are uploaded will probably fall under popular themes such as cottagecore and japan-culture but i think the main difference between new leaf and new horizons is terraforming - while a lot of the same themes will be utilized over and over, terraforming helps to make islands more unique even if they follow a ‘basic’ theme and with how limited furniture options are - still, i’ll be dreaming a lot since i always like to see what other people have done with their stuff as despite limited options and repetitive themes, there’s a lot of creative folks in this community aha

That's a good point. But I think an island where the person isn't interested in decorating is still going to have more character compared to an endless slog of week 1 or 2 islands, where there simply wasn't a choice. It still adds to the variety in an intentional way.
