I've amassed a lot of NMTs with letting people catalog on my island from discord, reddit, etc. Would it help the economy to just trash/sell all the NMTs to Timmy & Tommy ultimately taking them out of the economy. (ie: I can get about 4K - 8K NMTs per day).

edit: I guess there's still duping methods floating around and Nintendo doesn't seem to care.

I would use them to get your favorite villagers first. One person selling them won't make a difference anyway.

At this point, it seems like the market is overly saturated with NMTs, I'm not sure how effective it would be to just dispose them. I feel like there's probably hundreds, maybe thousands out there who are also in the same situation as you are, having amassed lots of NMTs.

To be honest, prior to viewing markets and forums, I didn't even realize how much they have depreciated in value. I guess it doesn't help either that there's an ongoing glitch. It seems like seeing hundreds and thousands of these will be normal now.

I think the only duping method as of now that works is the very risky one that has a chance of corrupting your save data, other than that I don't think there's any other way?

but even if you did sell 4k-8k tickets a day, first of all you'd very quickly run out of things to do with all those bells, but secondly I doubt you'd make that much of an impact outside of the group of people who want to pay NMT to catalogue items.
I feel like NMT have basically been officially laid to rest now and a lot of people are either asking for extremely high amounts for them or are just asking for other currencies because there's always a risk of a new duping glitch cropping up. kinda seems beyond saving honestly.

NMT dupe glitch got patched, so anyone who's still duping is on an older patch.

It was going to happen regardless, they have little value to begin with (value was already plummeting before the whole dupe glitch thing, most consistent players probably have 100k+ nookmiles and little to spend it on). The biggest value was also in dreamie hunting, and I'd hazard a guess that most people probably already have most of their dreamies or can amiibo them in.

I'm almost there! 😊 Just gotta kick out Hamlet... somehow find Bam to replace him... then kick out Nana or Tia... hopefully find Diana or Marshal... then kick out Tutu... hopefully find Diana or Marshal (though I wouldn't mind Raymond or Ankha...) The point I'm trying to make is that it is a LONG process if you don't time travel forward or have amiibo.

Yes also with campsite resetting, it's easier to get the new villagers like Raymond and Judy so even less of a need for NMTs.

Ooh I could do that but instead I just hop back and forth between two days...

If you don't TT (or trade) then yes, NMT will hold more value for you. Though just with consistent play (especially during earth day activities giving a bunch of x5 rewards) and the slow stack of achievements, most people have well over 100k which is 50 NMTs. Most people probably have more. also i have a bam/diana/marshal amiibos if you're interested but i understand if you want to find them yourself

campsite resetting for Judy really sucks lol, there's soo many smugs ;-;
but yeah, campsite resetting helps as well. and I'd hazard that many people have also given up and straight up bought them (either on the black market, or with nmts)

Plus, I feel at least that some people are giving me NMTs just for giving them an item.

The problem isn't a single person though. It's everybody hoarding and the amount of people looking to buy them, which is much lower.

This is your "property" and you can do whatever is easiest to you, but if you want to trash it why not just give it to people island hopping?

A public thread will definitely attract the wrong attention mostly, but you can see if someone is having bad luck in the general discussion thread.

I would love for it to help since it's almost impossible to buy anything anywhere else (that's why I love TBT as a currency), but I'm not sure since there are multiple people like you who have thousands just sitting there. Prices for items/villagers will likely continue to get higher since the community loves finding glitches and exploiting them while hoarding mass amounts of NMT from other trades. It's really a shame :/

A lot of people have their permanent villagers now too and/or there's enough villagers moving out daily to organize a trade with someone. Island hopping is being ruled out in favor of the campsite method.

There's likely going to be more and more flooding the market without them being consumed for their intended purpose (especially with ebay sellers). I'd love for it to help bring the economy back down a bit, but the optimist in me has a hard time believing it'll actually help in the long run.

I got about 40 stashed in my storage and a bunch of Nook Miles I haven't transformed into tickets yet, but there's nothing I want. The only stuff I want is a few DIYs that I'll get eventually anyway, and the seasonal stuff eg. the Mush stuff, which I don't really want to get before the season occurs... IMO that spoils the fun of seasonal events, for me anyway.
So I'm just keeping the ones I got stashed in case something pops up later on down the line that I'll need them for, for example if a future update brings new features to the mystery islands, or some new items become available, that people will trade NMT for.

I thought that was patched?
