Apple Imperialist
This is another of The Best and Worst of New Leaf. Last time, I went over daily activities in ACNL and what are good and what are not. We're at the point where this whole thing will end. Here we go, all about online-related activity.
Train Station:
BEST - I like the whole trading system on the public forums, but this is more for Bell Tree Forums and not ACNL. But what else I like is the best friends feature where we can immediately chat with some friends who are playing, even when the gates are closed.
WORST - there are some bad players across the internet though. We hear about dupers, hackers, and other kinds of cheaters that ruin the purpose of ACNL by breaking the game. What's even worse than that are scammers and vandals. If they promise you to pay you back if they get something from you, they better do what they promise. Although it is against the rules to blacklist scammers, I feel that it's the right thing. And vandals, oh come on, we worked hard on our hybrids, and they want to damage them? I'm so glad that I didn't add any scammer or vandal, but I sympathize for everyone who did.
The Island:
BEST - I wouldn't say the island full of turtles or the Island Tours as the best part of the island, but I would say that it's the easiest way to make money in-game. With beetle farming and shark harvesting coming from the island, debts can be paid off very easily.
WORST - Club Tortimer. After hearing about horrible stories from other people on the AC sites, I have to safely say that any site where whiny kids troll and have more power than others are the worst features of the game. I have dealt with bad kids online before, but not in Animal Crossing. The thing here is that AC trolls are the worst. We put a lot of hard work on our towns or earning a lot of Bells, and they demand us for everything we have. Not only they're sounding spoiled, but that's lazy too. I can totally bet that they get extremely angry when someone flips off the wi-fi switch, but they deserve it. Not only we hear horrible stories from Club Tortimer, but there isn't really a point. Instead of more features, it's just the same island. There are some CT exclusives, but that doesn't make it any better. Why call a motel room a "Platinum Suite" when there are regular suite rooms that are better? I'm not saying that motels are bad. It's just that the online island is just the same as the offline island.
Island Tours:
BEST - my favorite Island Tour is the gardening games where you pick flowers and plant them in the flower box. The interesting thing is what flowers you were supposed to plant in the box. Hard mode limits to a specific flower, medium mode only specifies by color or by species, and easy mode means no specific flower.
WORST - The labyrinth tours. There's not much needed to be said here, but it's not as fun as the other tours. That, and it's hard to win gold even on easy mode.
Overall:
BEST - probably traveling out of town or hosting visitors. I also liked most of my past trading experiences I had with others online. Some helped me catalog items, some bought items from me, and some even sold items to me.
WORST - Club Tortimer. I already mentioned how bad it is from the earliest days of my membership here, and it certainly hasn't gotten any better.
Next blog entry will be a final review of ACNL. I'll sum up everything I had in the past five entries.
