Discord is a real-time chat platform used alongside the forums. It provides an additional space for members of The Bell Tree to communicate and connect outside of forum posts, and it's sometimes used during forum events!

How Do I Join?
Click or tap the link below to be invited to our Discord server:

How to Register a Discord Account
If you don't already have a Discord account, you will need to register an account and verify your email address. You will also need to be 13 years or older to join the Discord server. See the instructions in the spoiler below.
Click on the link provided at the start of this post! It will bring up the following screen:

You can choose to use Discord in your web browser. However, you can also download the Discord app for:

Understanding Channels
There are multiple channels to suit different discussions! By default, you're automatically able to read and send messages in all public channels. You can open a channel by clicking the channel name in the left sidebar. You can also mute a channel if you have absolutely no interest in it.

Current Channels:
  • Town-Hall
    • # announcements - Easy links to the latest announcements and events on The Bell Tree.
    • # rules - Read me!
  • Plaza
    • # general - The main discussion channel. Talk about most things here.
    • # gaming - For discussing games.
    • # memes - Post your memes.
    • # creative - Share your creations.
    • # pokecord - Play the Pokétwo Discord app!
  • Multiplayer
    • # multiplayer-1 - Talk over Discord while playing games with fellow TBT members! Use one channel per game at a time.
    • # multiplayer-2
    • # multiplayer-3
  • Animal Crossing
    • # new-horizons - Discuss Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
    • # pocket-camp - Discuss Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete.
    • # general-ac - Discuss anything related to Animal Crossing!

Think we should add a new channel? Let us know by posting in this thread and we'll consider it if we can gauge significant interest. Channels are also subject to removal in time if we feel they are not active enough.

Moderators and Name Colors
Name colors in the Discord server currently match the staff colors on the forums. Those colors and groups include Administrators, Moderators, and Project Staff. You can find a list of them on the Staff Members page.

These users moderate the Discord server. If you are not following the rules or you are otherwise creating a negative environment for others, they may talk to you privately, or ultimately ban you from the server if needed.

Rules & Guidelines of The Bell Tree Discord Server
The Rules and Guidelines of The Bell Tree forums still apply on Discord, though they may be more loosely moderated. You can find the Discord Server Rules here.

Below is a summary of what is expected:
  • Be respectful to others and make people feel welcome!
  • Keep negativity to a minimum.
  • Keep channels on-topic.
  • Do not use the server to advertise or promote other Discord servers, websites, YouTube channels, shops, or social media accounts.
  • Forum rules still apply.
  • Refrain from spamming channels or repeating yourself. Users will respond to your messages if they are interested.
  • Do not invite bots (they will be removed).
  • The Discord server is not for reporting site issues or concerns. Please make a thread in the Contact the Staff board, or use the "Report" feature where appropriate. If you cannot access your account, please email tbt@belltreeforums.com. To report an issue within the Discord server, you may ping a staff member using "@Staff".
  • Do not share personal information, or ask others for personal information.
  • Comply with Discord Terms of Service and Discord Community Guidelines
  • Importantly, your server nickname should ideally be identifiable to your TBT username. Moderators may ask you to identify yourself or change your name if this is not clear.

Frequently Asked Questions
I don't know how to use Discord! Help?
We suggest checking out Discord's official support pages first if you're having trouble directly related to the app itself and not our server or users. If that fails, you may post questions in this thread.

Where are the voice channels? I want to speak!
There is currently no voice chat on The Bell Tree Discord server at this time. Maybe in the future!

How can I turn on notifications?
We've disabled general notifications by default in our server, which means you will only receive a notification if someone mentions your name using the @ symbol, or a staff member uses @everyone. This is to prevent unwanted notification "spam". You can turn on all notifications yourself by going to the server, clicking on the server menu at the top of the screen, and opening Notification Settings.

I feel I was wrongly kicked or banned from the server. What can I do?
If a staff member previously talked to you about your behavior in the server, you can first ask them for more detail on why they removed you from the server. If you're not satisfied with their explanation, you can appeal your ban using the Contact the Staff board for forum moderators to see.

I am just going to add a few suggestions here I guess.

These are the ones that are used in the Mafia chat:
  • Collectible Discussion Channel
  • Music Discussion Channel
  • Pictures Channel
  • Politics

But I think there could be more that would fit nicely with the "whole TBT" Discord, rather than just the 2 or 3 that we currently have:
  • The ones listed above
  • General gaming (Or Popular game sub channels)
  • TBT Event Discussion/Feedback or something like that
  • Art Discussion, Sharing, Feedback, etc.

Personally I think there should be a good amount of channels throughout the server, it'll help spread people out, slow down the activity in just the general chat, and let people make friends with those who share similar interests and stuff.

These are all really awesome ideas that I would love to see happen

I have some questions

What happens when people spam or someone says something really offensive when no mods are online? Should it be brought to staff's attention? If so how would we go about that?

I mean yeah but should we do that, should we PM them on here or on Discord, and should we just PM any mod/admin or a certain one, that's why I'm asking them

Yes, bring it to our attention either by messaging one of us via PM on here/Discord or via the Contact the Staff board. If it's something you think needs dealing with immediately you're welcome to @ me on the Discord as well and I should pop in provided I'm not outcold.

I met so many nice ppl on there 2day. Guess what else happened today? The birth of the Weebus Squad.
