I've never really understood why people have dreamies, and spend so much effort to attain such villagers. Until I got my first one. In the past (since i've started playing ac in like 2007) I've always just taken the villagers i've gotten. If one I didn't like wanted to move, I'd let them, and i'd just go through the motions. I'd just got used to the villagers I had.

This past week i've gotten into this whole "dreamie" idea and i'm hooked. I got my first and second dreamies (Cherry and Sprinkle) and i absolutely adore them. It's crazy how much they can really mean to you! Any similar experiences?

People enjoy this game in different ways. Some people think it's fun and interesting to let villagers come and go. Others have more fun once they have their favorite villagers in their town.

Once I understood that there were communities out there that could trade villagers to you and help you get certain ones, I looked at a picture list of all villagers and decided what my favorites were from that. I didn't have any hesitation in doing this. If I could fill my town with adorable villagers, then yes!

I'd rather enjoy the game with villagers I like than with villagers who make me want to just do mayoral duties (only digging up fossils, weeding, talking to villagers I like etc.) It's more enjoyable, imo, when you have villagers who you like as compared to ones you dont c:

I recently got my forth copy of the game.I decided to do the dreamie thing. It's been kind of fun.I ended up with 6 hamsters and OMG are they adorable.I also recently adopted Penelope and she is precious.

I feel like "the hunt" also makes it that much more enjoyable, and a lot more meaningful once you get that villager you've been searching for!

i mean yeah , most of my dreamies are rather lost , or just for my likings , it just depends what kind you have , what personality you're going for , etc .

my first dreamie i obtained was Stitches . which i was so happy every time i talked to him , such a cutie <3

Even if it wasn't a popular thing to do I would have dreamies. I just have a certain few villagers I like best (although I wish there was just a little more space for all of them) and NL + its community make it really easy to get them.

I only have 4 dreamies; Coco, Phoebe, Maple, and Eugene.
As long as I have them, I'll be okay.

I kind of work (or worked, rather) in a similar way to this. I always had villagers that were my favorite, but also similarly to the OP, I would usually take what I get unless they were really hideous. In this game, aesthetics over personality is a big issue because of the sheer lack of dialogue compared to other games. It is in this that having villagers you like seems so much more necessary. I started here about six days to a week ago, and pretty much all I have done is scout for my favorite villagers.

I have come to love many new ones, but ultimately, it turns into a battle of looks. I love my Erik and he has always been with me since the beginning. But someone like Lucky would fit so much better into my town. Honestly, "dreamies" just make your town more enjoyable. I actually had a thread a few days back talking about the controversy of purchasing dreamies and the impact on the games atmosphere because of it.

I like to let people come & go and take chances with random move-ins. It's nice to change it up every once in a while.

Kyle moved in and I decided he had a forever-home in my town. But IDK I'm gonna let him leave if he asks cuz it gets boring having the same villagers all the time. I don't think I'd ever decide on a Top 10 and I don't like playing the game that way. I decided that I like playing AC in a leisurely way, I don't want to plot reset and be perfectionist over my town anymore.

I have 2 or 3 dreamies tho and I do villager trades for ones I really want! I just got Lolly and I'm so happy!

ITA. It really is just an aesthetic thing now, I don't really bother talking to my villagers that often because of the lack of dialogue. It's all the same.

also I think with some of the tier ones like Marshal and Ankha it's like the animal crossing status symbol to have them. know what I mean?

Actually, no, I don't know what you mean. Status symbol? How? I have Ankha in one town and Marshal in another, and I don't see what you mean.

I'm curious - do you mean status symbol as in only wanting them for tier? If so, not in many cases, if not all. I don't want them because of what anyone else thinks.

Or do you mean status as in their worth if someone wants to sell either of them?

I guess it depends on the person. I don't really have dreamies, just villagers I really like. I got a couple of them specifically for my town and there are a couple of others that I'll be actively looking for once I make room for them. Other than that, I really enjoy meeting new villagers (and some of my random move-ins are villagers I've decided to keep permanently or at least for longer than I expected) so I'd still want one or two spots to rotate between villagers. :)

One of my old towns I worked as hard as I could with plot and campsite resetting to try and find my dreamies. I hada town full of them but then I just got sick of seeing them. Right now I don't really have any dreamies after that, so more than anything my towns usually just consist of villagers that look cute.

yes, I mean people wanting them cuz they are popular. but not everyone who wants them is like that. don't take it so personally. IJS there is a common theme here where everyone wants the same dreamies.
