What are the best things about having more than one copy?? I was thinking I could make a themed town or even cycle for people's dreamies...
You can never have enough animal crossing hehe xP

So could you tell me what are the best things about having a 2nd town?

I personally wouldn't, because it's not right for me. I prefer to focus on just one town as otherwise I get bored. But some positives about having two towns is: You can trade stuff to yourself (If you have another DS that you could use) or you can have more chance at achieving your dreamies. I don't know.

I have two towns and it's great :D I use my second town for TTing and cycling, and also because I have another DS I can trade with myself, LOL.

A lot of people say that their main town takes up too much time already, but I pretty much have my main town how I want it, except for villagers. After paying off my mortgage and completing my fossils and getting the T&T Emporium, there is less to do in my main town now. That's when the second town comes in handy :)

Like the above said, if you have two 3DS you can trade with yourself, and streetpass yourself. Extra storage space for both furniture/clothing /etc and storage for villagers, and some people use them for cycling through villagers as you can see from the many cycling threads. Also, obtaining rare items, like being able to get two sailboat models on two different accounts, even though you can do that just by making another character. Some people have two New Leaf copies but in different versions (1 JP and one NA and etc.) to get all the event items. I'd say there are a lot of good things about it, but I wouldn't do it simply because A. I can't afford another copy and B. I wouldn't have time.

I have 2 copies, but I only play my main town. My second was to be a backup in case one corrupted, but I forgot about it and never went and got the DLC items for it, I'll catalogue instead. Once I have everything in my main town, I'll probably get back into my second town, but only have 1 3DS so I have to have a go between to store items while I get my other town booted up to collect!

I would never do that. I wouldn't want to take care of two towns. It would become repetitive and boring : a task.

I focus on my main town, I use my 2nd town for holding villagers for myself and other people, using that locker space for my main town... plenty of benefits.

I have a second town and love it:

-you get to look for your dreamies. now, having said that, i've actually found only 1 in my town. there's 333 villagers, so it's really hard. most of my dreamies i got in auctions. but the good thing about having a second town is, you always have room to take them right away and you just cycle them into your real town. once in a while a really popular villager moves in, in which case you can do a giveaway or if you are low on funds, auction them off. cycling itself is fun, you get to see different villagers come and go.

-trades can be done with your second town. if someone comes to your town, there's nothing to mess up. they can run around all they want! and there's no danger of some undesirable surprise villager moving into town... if that happens, you just cycle them out, no biggie.

-you get to run on grass! no fear of erosion

-any time there is a petition, you don't have to begging, you just go to your extra town.

-storage. i store all my items for trade in my second town.

-time traveling. you can let your town be overrun with weeds and then do weeding day, for example. you can see what summer is like. if you have 1 last bug missing, you can tt to that month to get it.

-i have a katie that bounces between towns, ha, ha.

basically, it's a way to keep your "real town" pristine.

I find it funny that some people think that having a second town is a chore. You don't even have to "care" for the second town if you don't want to, mine is full of weeds (great for the weeding badge and weeding day!), it's not a task at all!

What does it mean about different versions? Isn't there just one kind in the store?

Different regions have different 3ds colors. Like the white one is only available in Japan. Also, if you have a Japanese 3ds and game, you could get all the Japanese dlc. I think...

I don't know if this is what you mean but the white 3DS and 3DS XL is available everywhere.

Oh I completely forgot about this thread haha xDDD Thing is I'm not going to buy another 3ds to trade with myself but I want to help other people get their dreamies - so I think that if I DO find a cheap ACNL game somewhere out of complete luck then I'll buy it (always wanted to try cycling and raffles hehe)

actually I think I might go for a JP or NA version...

I like my other town but don't focus on it too much. I keep it up and give it attention, but not nearly as much as my main town. I love to streetpass myself, trade, and store stuff. Also, I hope to help myself and others get their dreamies.

I am such a packrat that the other town comes in handy. Plus, I am working on a theme for it. I am glad I got another town, but to care for it as fully as my main town? Out of the question, definitely. But I can do enough to really enjoy it and the perks.

Another question... people or have NA or JP versions where did you get them online? :o

I'm thinking of buying a second copy for Christmas. A second copy would be really nice; at least, I think so. I could use one of them for my main town and the other would be used for helping other people out. I've never looked into the concept of cycling villagers, but when December rolls around I'll definitely have to check it out if I want to do it myself. After all, I'm happy so long as the other person is happy! :)

I've been giving a lot of thought to getting a second copy of the game. I missed catching that damn scorpion last summer, and I hate the idea of waiting so long to complete my bug catalogue, so it would be handy to have someplace to TT around. The thought of all that storage space is also tempting. The more I read in this thread, the closer I get to hiking off to EB Games and buying another cartridge.

Augh you guys are enabling me.

I actually just got myself a second copy (a digital copy). I really wanted to be in charge of making the town decisions this time around. And with all of the modern street stuff on the outside, that's the kind of town I really wanted.

Additionally, with the past experience of Animal Crossing in my back pocket, I can use it to help myself get the town I really want. Granted, it will take much longer considering that it's not Summer, but Animal Crossing is meant to be on and off anyways.

Tomorrow, a smug will be moving in! Crossing fingers for a good one!
