Tehchnique for catching crabs? (sea crabs, not panty crabs)

I am unable to catch crabs at the island hahaha,
I have never caught one outside of the little island game.
THEY ARE SO FAST!
I am also unable to catch the things (no idea what they are) that disapear when you get too close under water...


Any specific techniques to get them? Because it's very frustrating.

Maybe make sure you don't dive until you are SURE you are right over them. Just jam A until your over them and press dive. other than that though thr crabs are inhumanly fast. Like little sharks XD

Try swimming in the direction you think it's gonna go.

Make sure to smash the A button repeatedly very fast. So you can catch up with it.

Like others have said, it's a matter of timing your diving and just mashing A really fast! Try to stay away from the lines with those bobber thingies because they can escape under those. Also, all the creatures have a random chance of disappearing I believe, usually when you take too long to catch them.

I actually try not to button mash. I feel like you have to get a pace with swimming but I may be wrong. A tip would be not to chase them outwards into the ocean, they gravitate there in order to run from you haha.

Just mash A and follow them, then at the end you'll get a little faster and catch up. That's what I always do.
