Here's my entry for the egg decoration category a Moonlight Faberge Egg. I've always wanted to make a Faberge styled egg ever since the fourth egg decorating contest so I went on going for it this year. so I did decorate the egg in that style.

1000002639.jpg

Here's the version with the name card in it.
1000002638.jpg

Materials:
  • Styrofoam egg
  • Dresspins (for the decorative tips)
  • Hot glue
  • Acryllic paint
  • White paint marker (for additional details)
And now for the commentary + progress:
Originally, i was about to make the egg Magolor themed because egg (get it?). But I've noticed that the ear tips and details are kind of rough and crude so I scrapped the nearly finished product for a new one since I've bought two styrofoam eggs.

Since i was kind if aiming on submitting before the deadline, i just went for moon/galaxy themed Faberge egg as it's main theme. I used dress pins as the decoration along with hot glue for the frame and intricate details. Hot glue had potential in bringing in the 3d effects plus it is faster and easier to deal with than the air dry clay since they take longer to manage.

The white paint pretty much dried up so I used my white paint marker for the stars + moon details.

And that's it for the bonus commentary.

I've been re-watching some of my favourite ghibli movies over the last months, so I wanted to paint a studio ghibli themed egg! I couldn't decide on one single movie so I tried to squeeze as many little snippets into this egg as I could. Honorable mention to dust sprites, they were just tooooo tiny. Don't ask me the scale of anything

Not sure I'll make it in time with the egg decorating as I'm missing sooo many materials for my idea, but I'll try
THIS IS INCREDIBLE. BREATHTAKING.

I'd love to see what you could create with a full paint canvas!

Ostrich egg contest when?

Thank you Corrie ❤ I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd stare at it for weeks and months and be too overwhelmed by the possibilities. I currently have a landscape wall mural to paint and by currently I mean its been 2 years since I moved here and its still a blank wall 😂 the beauty of egg is there is so little space, its not a big commitment 😖

Egg painting category

Here's my attempt at egg decorating lol! I chose to design them after the three Easter eggs from this year's hunt that left the biggest impression on me: #3 which was hidden in one of my posts, #15 which I managed to find first, and #21 which tormented us all. The styrofoam kept absorbing the marker and making it look really washed out, these are definitely not my best work haha 😭 these eggs are pretty small (less than 2 inches, the only other option was well over 4) so I've made three as the rules say - which in this case has actually worked in my favour

Haha, this was actually an idea I had once the answers were revealed for the egg hunt! I thought it would be very fun to have some sort of egg-ception clue for one of the next hunts :P Very clever and well done, I approve!

My egg for the Egg Painting Category is based on Hunter the Leopard from Lisa Frank. I used a plastic craft egg, Prismacolor colored pencils, Sharpie markers, and gel pens.

I love Merengue but I can't fit her on my island so I thought it would be cool to make her into an egg

MerengueEggReferences.png

MerengueEggStep_1.jpg

Started by gessoing some plastic eggs. 3 coats of clear gesso because my white gesso had gone totally dry

MerengueEggStep_2b.jpg

Followed by several coats of pink acrylic paint

MerengueEggStep_3.jpg

Cutting out Merengue's...... hair? On white felt

MerengueEggStep_4.jpg

Sculpting the tinfoil armature for her lil bod

MerengueEggStep_5.jpg

Sculpted the clay on (air dry clay), also made her strawberry horn using the same process. Additional I applied three layers of new white gesso, and mixed up some acrylic paint + impasto medium and piped a bunch on to some palette paper in order to get the best dollop

MerengueEggStep_6a.jpg

Painted everything with acrylic paint... also made her little tail using yarn that I painted pink and sculpted the end of her tail using aluminum foil and air dry clay

MerengueEggComponents.jpg

All of Merengue's components!! Her ears are felt that I stitched to give them their shape + painted the inner ears with acrylic paint. THe strawberry leaves is just some green quilting cotton. After all that I picked the dollop I liked best and then superglued everything together

picanicbasket.JPG
Finally I took her outside so she could touch some grass with me 🤗☘️☘️☘️
But now I'm hoping to speed-paint an entire other egg for the egg painting category

This looks really good and well crafted! And it looks like on of those cute ceramic figures that were displayed at houses.🥰

So, I had much grander plans to make an egg for both categories, but due to ~personal circumstances~ uhhh I only have access to a tube of red and (clumping) black acrylic paint and one paintbrush right now 😭 so, just entering the painting category!
All things considered though, fairly happy with how this turned out!!

egg 2026 zerous.jpg

Went out to find some plants to put around it, and used the lid of an eyeshadow to hold it up!

I used a real egg for this!
Sad picture of my lonely brush and paints LMAO
egg 2026 progress 1.jpg

egg 2026 progress 2.jpg

First did two layers of red on the egg, then went in with the black! The black turned out to be semi-drying out, so it was a lil difficult to work with

So many amazing eggs as always !! 💙

My very first thought was, "well you can't make Merengue (meringue) without eggs." 🥲 What a fitting contest to feature her! 🥚🍓🦏
